Why bother if this team is going to be tanking for 1 or more draft picks anyway and waiting on Val? Obviously because they want to see how all these PFs play next to a legit C and who they need to keep and who they can ship out to help strengthen another position.
Bargs, ED, Amir--at least one of them needs to go. If Bargs doesn't flourish at the 4 next to a real C then he's gone. If he does then I can see ED being traded for a good PG or perhaps both ED and Derozan going for a star swingman with a more complete game and can truly be the #1 player on this team.
This. I don't get the notion that you shouldn't have vets on your team if you're re-building. I also don't get the notion that guys like DeMar and Ed are untouchable. We're not going to turn trash to treasure. You have two give up two or more decent assets to get a good asset. And you have to give up two or more good assets to get a great asset.
