wait, isn't it a good thing that he barely needs to jump to dunk?

Besides, BC compared him to a young, slightly more athletic Big Z, who was a serviceable C.

My biggest concern is him being in foul trouble. How do fouls for C/PF's translate from Euro league to NBA?

I know, I just can't be excited about this pick at all. A guy who is probably at best a decent defender who can't block shots and can't create his own offense. The only thing I'm excited for is his rebounding, that is all.

Really, how athletic do you need a 7-footer to be? He doesn't have to jump out of the rim or anything.

If I was a hater, I'd stop nitpicking about the athleticism and start seeing of the footwork or post-moves needed work
(Which frankly, they seem to, but those aspects are more correctable)

Theirs probably his best game I've seen. Using the 4 minute clip to judge our newest 19 year old draft pick would be a little rash.

Not saying use that 8 minute clip to deem him a star, but clearly he has game and is a player that can be pretty darn solid. I see a solid two way player, he has great hands, hustles, good motor and rebounds. Shows signs of some post moves, and finishing ability but obviously needs work. biggest thing, he needs to get stronger.

Do you guys not get it? Jonas is EXACTLY what the Raps have been missing since Antonio Davis left town - a big, tough big man who understands how to play like a center. These are the HARDEST players to acquire in the league. We've finally found our center moving forward and he fits perfectly next to Bargs and Davis. Our future now has a light at the end of the tunnel.

Next year's draft will have a dozen or so star players and we will still be in the lottery. We can acquire a future star and have a great looking team moving forward. I love this pick.

Can't play if you're on the bench with foul trouble. He's going to foul out even quicker in the NBA than he fouls out in Lithuania.

In your heart of hearts do you really think this skinny European centre is going to be able to bang in the NBA? not a chance... the only bright side is this selection puts us right in the running for a top 3 pick next year

Bargnani has had some monster dunks. I'd say Bargs is a superior jumper to Val, and that's sad.

Well, I can't determine what you qualify as athletic, but to me, Val IS athletic. But here's the clip, try looking harder next time.

he's athletic enough for the offense for sure, but he's not the defensive presence, shot blocker defender that we need and that colangelo said we lacked. And that video was his play in the lithuanian league, the other one when he looked worse I believe it was in euro league. (Could be wrong about the euro league)

That's the thing though, I'm a huge advocate of great footwork. I think it's a lot more important than people will give footwork credit for. But, how does it applies to a rather skinny not so athletic 7fter? IMO he needs to have Kevin McHale like footwork.

he doesn't have a great vertical, but he is very very quick off his feet which is similar to guys like Noah, Ed Davis, Blair who are all great rebounders. It's not all about how high you jump.

So there's now chance this guy bulks up between now and a year or two later?

Let me guess, because he's white right? Because he's European?

Apparently Europeans do not posses the ability to acquire body mass.

I recall people saying the exact same thing about bargnani...look how that turned out.

Sorry I'm not sold on this pick. We'll have to wait and see..Maybe 3 years lol.

If he had elite athleticism he'd be Dwight Howard. Let's be realistic for a second, you won't find many more athletic 7 footers. He's more athletic than Gasol was at that age. He doesn't jump high but there is no denying that he gets off the floor insanely quick for a big man which is really important.

Even in that **** video, no one was impressed that he managed to stop the ball and get a hand on the layup by the pass recipient? That takes some type of quickness man.

And I don't care who you are, or where you play, shooting 70% is impressive. Bismack Biyombo couldn't even do that against air.

I'm no expert in these areas, but he looks like he has a projectable frame that can afford to put on some pounds... I think.

Considering his history of playing on the inside and what seems to be a mindset of an inside player, it just feels like he can be a traditional center, if he reaches his potential.

(Of course, I'm doing a lot of projecting and it could really, just as easily, go the other way)

(also, what the hell is up with me today... too many typos)

You do realize that there may only be a handful of big men in the past twenty years who have footwork close to Kevin McHale's, don't you?

Learn to read...then learn to listen...then think before you type.

1. I never said Leonard would go fifth
2. BC said had Jonas went before our pick, they had moves lined up ...some to involve either moving back or acquiring another pick and movi another player
3. I thought you were done, why are you for looking for reasons to stay?
4. I never said it was going to happen, I was nearly passing on info from my legit source.. I guess I should post a "You Mad?" pic cause your jealous that all you got is your little sister tugging at your drawstrings for inside info.

His body type doesn't look like he'll be able to put on much.

I have no trouble with white dudes don't know why you would say that, that's pretty racist.

I have a HUGE problem with Euroball however.
