Burks may end up being better than Kantor...I love both picks! The best values when the picks were taken.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Re: How you like Jazz picks
I agree with Toledo, Burks could very well end up being the better of the two picks, but that is just because nobody has seen Kanter.

from SLT
how you may disagree with that, O'connor goes with bpa but definitely not even close to be best suited, our Offense with Burks will by even more one dimensional that in last season, those bigs gonna by locked, i hope our Gm is not an idiot and he have some plan for summerOnly the Jazz would draft a shooting guard that can't shoot.

Re: How you like Jazz picks
I am over Knight at #3 and am on board with both picks.
I hope for the best for both of them and frankly I am happy with them. The Jazz saw more of him than any of us (including last September and October in Kentucky) and I have liked Alec all along.
BTW, Kanter wants to be called the Undertaker. He said "Jazz fans...The Undertaker is coming"
Anyway, I am going to watch some more on both of these guys and I am looking forward to next season (when it starts).

Dude, I suggest you do some reading on prospects, college players and find out more about them before you continue your mission to kill Alec for his shooting.
Look at these profiles:
Brandon Roy:
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Bra ... 343/stats/
Alec Burks:
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Alec-Burks-5819/
Brandon Roy was a 10% 3-pt shooter his freshman year and a 22.2% 3-pt shooter his sophomore year. Then his Junior and Senior year he drastically improved to 35% then 40%.
Alec Burks shot 35% his freshman year then 29% his sophomore year. He can improve that.
Besides did you know that Hayward shot 29% from the 3-pt line his Junior year (the year he was drafted).
What did he shoot his rookie season from the 3-pt line his rookie season in the NBA? 47.3%
Seriously stop spouting the label that is on him and do some research and reading on what has happened to players and see if they can improve (which I have demonstrated) instead of crying Jazz didn't make a trade or move to get your golden boy.
Okay, so who do you pick at the #12 if you were the Jazz?

I like them. I see Burcs as Brewer without a broken arm. He can improve his shooting and will have the opportunity to do so working with Horny. I liked Kanter as soon as I heard he wanted to be in the WWE when he retired.

Re: How you like Jazz picks
I'm happy, though I wish the Jazz could have gotten someone who could shoot from 3 right away rather than developing the shot. Though, Burks could end up like Hayward and completely prove everyone wrong about his outside shot.
Kanter and Knight for me was a wash either way, I would have preferred a defensive wing like Singleton over Burks, but I'm not angry at all. I think Burks will turn out to be a nice player, but this team is extremely light on long range shooting and defense right now, neither of which was immediately addressed in this draft. I want George Hill.

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...

Re: How you like Jazz picks
I'm stoked on Burks, like everyone says, shooting is one of the easiest things to learn how to do when you get into the NBA. Lots of guys going into the league were always able to out athlete/dribble the guys they played against so shooting the basketball wasn't ever a priority. Kobe, Jordan, McGrady, Wade, LeBron, seriously the list goes on. Once these guys got to the league they started to work on their shot and improved it until it was at least a viable weapon.
With the skills Burks does have with his ability to drive to the hoop using either hand, he doesn't ever need to become a 40% three point shooter to open up the middle, if he can get into the low to mid 30's it'll be more than sufficient.
Kobe is a career 34% three point shooter which is just good enough to keep you close enough that he can burn you with the dribble. Jordan only ever shot 33% from deep, again, just enough to keep his man close enough that he could burn you on the dribble.
Not saying Burks is going to be that level of player, obviously he won't be, but that is all the better you have to be in order to make your ability to drive to the hoop effective.

Re: How you like Jazz picks
If 19 year old Kanter is good enough to start at C, then that makes Jefferson our PF and 19 year old Favors comes off the bench. We should be stong at both spots. Kanter & Favors are very young and should get better and better. Best PF/C depth and talent in Jazz history? I like this!
Burks turns 20 in July. Supposed to have potential as a defender. He is a slasher who goes to the line a lot and shoots above 80% there. Jazz always rumoured to like Cory Magette, so maybe this is our version. I like this too!

Kanter will be the backup Center til he's ready. I still think Utah will throw Memo's expiring at somebody and they will bite

Yeah, I hope Kanter can get some real minutes as a back up this year. Love to see him in the 20 minutes a night range right off the back.

Did I just read this?
It hurt my fingers to type that.
But then I read my sig where he called me "White Racist Trash" which is so much better than "Racist White Trash" and I literally laugh out loud every time I see it.

Re: How you like Jazz picks
Call me crazy but I think we need to start Kanter and Favors by the end of next season. You bring Kanter off the bench behind Jefferson or Favors to start out but by the trade deadline I want his minutes bumped up and hearing rumors of Jefferson being moved.
I think this spells the end of Millsap in Utah. There just isn't room for him anymore and he is far too valuable to not get something for him.
I'm trying to move Millsap for Granger asap if it's available or make a run at a guy like OJ Mayo.

MIllsap is gone or playing the 3. NBA Aldredge says we need to trade him for Hamilton. I dont want Hamilton. They also said Corbin loves Favors so Favors likely to start thank god. Jazz lineup at begginning of the year if there are no trades:
PG Harris Watson Price
SG Hayward Miles Burks Price
C Jefferson Kantor Memo Fess
PF Favors Millsap Evans
SF Millsap Miles Evans
PG Harris Watson Price
SG Hayward Miles Burks Price
C Jefferson Kantor Memo Fess
PF Favors Millsap Evans
SF Millsap Miles Evans
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

No need to move anyone right now. I say sit on the players until the right move comes around. Don't rush anything just to rush.

I think you're right, but there is a risk that guys get disgruntled and/or don't have a good season and it ends up hurting their trade value.
