Did the front office tank the draft?

I think most would agree that the draft day was a huge disappointment.

Is it possible that the front office chose to tank the draft in order to make leaving Sacramento after this season all the easier for them?

If it's not intentional, why was draft day so poorly executed, and who should be heald responsible?
Who should be fired?

Can't blame Petrie for Jimmer until proven otherwise, but the trade to move down when we COULD HAVE HAD WALKER OR KNIGHT was TERRIBLE. I would have rather offered similar money to a FA SF than to pick up Salmons again. It seems like just yesterday, everyone was complaining that he was too much of a ball hog....

I'm against a lot of what happened, but let's chill a little guys. If Salmons has a revival here in Sac and finds a way to fit in, suddenly we're looking good.

And while I would have loved Knight, and again, was disappointed with how things turned out, we didn't miss out on a future superstar.

We are paying him 8 million/year to be a professional and provide a veteren presence to our young guys. We are also counting on him being a key component in our offenive and defensive strategy. His value goes beyond the court and he is already well liked in the Sacramento community

At the end of this year the Kings were paying about $42 million to its players. I project that next year they will be paying $47 million. That money will be going to Thornton.

Are we talking about the same player here? The same John Salmons that was basically traded (along with Miller) for straight up salary purposes? The same John Salmons that people begged to pass the ball more often?

That was a vastly different team than the one Salmons will be playing for this time around. Jason Thompson and Garcia are the only core pieces that remain from that team.

I'm not mad about who we drafted. If we drafted Jimmer at #7, I would have questioned it, but been able to live with the decision. I'm upset that we traded down and downgraded the team as a whole.

Our team well be a headless chicken next year. Unless we instantly move one of Salmons/Garcia, I don't see us spending the money on another guard/wing (assuming we resign Thornton). Tyreke has shown that he is not a pointguard/play maker. We NEED someone else facilitating for this team.

And for everyone who didn't want Parker, or Jefferson, or Felton, or any of the other guys that were rumored or suggested because of their age...I'm pretty sure Salmons is the oldest of anyone that was ever brought up...and has the longest contract. AWESOME

In my mind, our team should be built around DeMarcus. Not Tyreke, not Thornton, not Jimmer, but DeMarcus. Tyreke won't be our best player. DeMarcus will.

However, when we start out the season, I predict there will be a lot of bumps and slow starts (due to us having no facilitator perhaps?).

With Tyreke, Thornton, Salmons, and Jimmer getting their shots, DeMarcus will really be short on touches. I pray to God, that he doesn't overreact and do something stupid because of this.

I can already see troubles ahead, of Cousins blowing up, because of his lack of touches and our team losing. =/

This is why we need to play through DeMarcus and use his post and passing abilities.

You need to look at Parker's and Jefferson's contracts.

Next, our offense sucked because we had no shooters. The Kings were the 5th worst three point shooting team last year, which led to Tyreke's ineffectiveness and Cousins' high turnover rate.
