WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
The Spurs have a deal with Indiana for Kawhi Leonard, league source tells Y!

Edit: The deal is offical. Hill for #15 (Kawhi Leonard), #42 (Davis Bertans) and the rights to Erazem Lorbek.

Not sure about this one. I really like Leonard, but I like Hill more. I'm guessing this means TP's staying.

I personally like this deal.

1. Lots of good/decent PGs are available still in the draft. Especially as a backup PG.

2. I take Kawhi Leonard as our future SF instead of SFs who were projected to drop at 29 like Kyle Singler.

3. Hill was a combo guard. I think Gary Neal can be that for us. Plus, whenever Gary/Hill was on the floor, it's usually with Manu or Parker as the playmaker.

4. Last year, we were too small in the perimeter because our best players were small. We saw lineups like TP, Neal, Manu type. Atleast this trade makes us bigger.

5. Leonard plays defense and rebounds the ball. Hell yeah.

It's reported that we also get the 42nd pick and the draft rights to 2005 draft pick to E-something Lorbek.

I think we draft a PG with the 29th pick. We don't have a backup PG right now but at the same time I think that could easily be solved in FA.

Right now, I'm just hoping Faried drops to us and we could get him too.

I'm liking Charles Jenkins or Darius Morris at 29. I still want Jimmy Butler but I doubt we pick him now that we have Leonard

I like the Joseph pick, I remember he was impressive in the McDonalds All-American game... And Kawhi Leonard, IMO, is a perfect match for us.

George Hill was great for us and was not just Pops' favorite player but a favorite to the fans as well. Let's wish him all the best in Indiana and hope Kawhi and Cory Joseph fit here.

I like this trade... Hill is too small to rely on a lot at SG, and needs more work from what I've gathered as a back-up PG. Plus we need more front-court size and mobility... since 2008!

Intrigued about Leonard... what's he like as a prospect/player? I'm not familiar with the college players from this past season, really.

Leonard is freakishly athletic, basically a Gerald Wallace clone - size, position, style, everything. He is an energetic defender with long hands, quick feet, blocks shots and gets steals, rebounds like a power forward (one of the NCAA rebounding leaders last season); not a good shooter but a good slasher.

He's also got massive hands. I like the Gerald Wallace comparison too.

Pacer fan here...just wanted to check in on George Hill.

Our guess is that the Pacers would use him primarily as a backup PG to Darren Collison. When Tony Parker was injured....did Gary Neal or George Hill run the point?

It sounded like Manu was the primary playmaker....if that was the case....I'm guessing that George was more of the "stand in the corner waiting for the ball to hit the 3" guy on the floor?

Hill ran the point but for the most part he played SG and thats really what he is, a SG. Hill's role with us was to get into the paint, knock down 3's and play lock down defense.

You guys will be able to get some PG minutes out him but like I said he spends most of his time at SG. He's a capable ball handler but he's just not a very good playmaker.

We traded Hill?! This front office has made some questionable moves these past few years. Hill was our best young player.

Hill is a good player for sure, but if the spurs decide to keep Parker George become tradeable.. Leonard is an amazing steal.. He could easily develop in the 3 of this team. He is perfect for the spurs culture and has all the tools to be a great player. Amazing trade night for the spurs as usual.

I also think Kawhi Leonard is a huge steal for us. George Hill, on the other hand, was very good for us but I think the price is fair. If you haven't seen Leonard play, think Gerald Wallace. The only question is whether he can play like that in the pros. I really like that unlike other rumors we didn't overpay to get a prospect like Valanciunas that wouldn't come for a couple of years but got a player who'll contribute right away and is also lottery talent.

Thanks for the comments.

How's his overall defense?

Is he a much better defender defending PGs as opposed to SGs?

I'm guessing that due to his size...his defense is better suited against PGs...hence my preference to play him as the primary backup PG to Collison. I'm pegging him as our Backup PG to play behind Collison while playing some ( but a minimal ) amount of minutes at the SG spot.

Any input on his defense would be helpful.
