Not happenin. We dont give a crap about Dantoni anymore, and we've been linked to Shumpert for a minute. He can guard/play 3 positions, so hes not pigeonholed as a "PG who cant shoot". We will keep him thank you very much, but good lookin out. If we're going to trade him and Fields for somebody, its def not a 38 year old. Try CP3 .

Carmelo's tweet was so lame. Way to show support. Amare on the other hand showed why this is his team. Shumpert looks like he has good form on his shot. Let's give him a chance. Every year there is a guy that no one expects to become anything special. Then you look back and say wow that was a steal. Maybe we'll get lucky and Shumpert will be that guy.

Man, that's a spot on comparison.

Shumpert's probably a better athlete but a bit less of a natural b'ball player, but at his best, Larry Hughes put up 22/6/5 without ever being a knock-down 3pt shooter. He also led the league in steals one year.

I have Faith in Iman, since that is what his name means. Reminds me of Spree size/skillset a little, remember spree couldnt shoot that well coming into the leauge. And he'll be my favorite Knick if he chokes the sh*t out of Asstoni.

All things considered a good pick considering the sixers took our man right before us.

I think Shumpert simply provided the best combination of skill and need for the Knicks.

Not really! Brooks is not as bad a defender as the pundits are passing him to be. He was his team's primary scorer but he's more than capable of taking a backseat to our two main guys.

We really don't have enough scorers. That's one of the mistakes people make when evaluating this roster. Once Felton/Chandler/Gallo left, only Melo proved to be a consistent scorer next to Amare. All the other players were up/down.

We needed a SG to come in here and steady our offense by being a third consistent scorer. That's why we were sweating Jimmer/Klay! Only reason we didn't pick Brooks was because he was a senior or some dumb mess like that.

Plus, let's not discount Shumpert is rep'ed by Amare's agent!

I'll just make one post regarding this and root for him since he is a Knick now.

Iman can't really run the point, I can never see him as a full time starter. When people talk about his potential they mean if he can develop into that point guard because of his measurements and agility. He is atheltic but I think people fall in love with him because he is a tall point guard. Playing off the ball this year he didn't fair any better than when he did have the ball in his hands, I do believe he needs the ball in his hands to be effective. The team needed for him to score this year and IMO he really didn't deliver all that much evident by the results. Where as you have other late bloomers around college who really stepped up, Iman didn't. His offense for the most part is almost non existent IMO, most of his points will come from attacking the rim and in transition. At the end of the day he is a combo guard who can't run the point nor shoot it really.

On defense is where he can really shine, with his athleticism and size. We will play him at the two guard probably thus kind of negating the advantages he has at point. We will play him with Douglas probably with Douglas guarding the ones and Iman the two's. All of a sudden we are taking Iman and forcing him to become a two really, sort of like what people wanted to do with Malcolm Lee. At 17 there where a handful of guys that could have impacted us either offensively, defensively or on the boards. Iman IMO was a complete reach and a pick we will look back upon as a bad pick.

IMO Iman will be a nice guy off the bench, but ultimately not a starter for us. Not going thesis on this pick.

Brooks slipped to 25, so how is that better value? There were alot of rumblings Shumpert was getting serious looks by Phoenix (either at 13 or with another pick), Minnesota at 20, Denver at 22, etc. He was rising fast. Dont think we reached much.

Brooks might not be as bad on defense as people say, but there isnt exactly much to judge him on since he played alot of zone. Hes also very skinny and weak (only benched 5 times) so thats not helping him on defense either. Think Jamal Crawford.

Brooks would have been an okay choice if we wanted a pure scorer/6th man off the bench, but its not like hes the shooter we needed and we dont know how effective hed be as a 3rd/4th option off the ball. At least with Shumpert we know hes going to give us top flight defense no matter what.. I hope . Shumpert is on another level as an athlete, who can match up with the best in the game on D. We cant say the same for Brooks, who might not even fit in well offensively. They were both risks.

Overall I think Shumpert will prove to be the better pick for us. We'll see though.

He has to get that shot of his right first and foremost.

Klay Thompson averaged .9 bpg, so I wouldnt say Marshon's 1.2 in more minutes means much. As a rebounder he is solid (7), but Shumpert is no slouch himself (6).

Neither are the shooters of Klay/Jimmer. So thats moot. I think both can improve their shooting though, and by all reports theyve been better in workouts.

Shump/Brooks were 1A and 1B on my board in the end, but it is refreshing we went with the more proven defender for once. Maybe our direction is changing finally.

BTW does the Shumpert pick remind anyone else of the Wilson Chandler one? Both super strong athletic beasts who are kind of under the radar picks and need to get better skill wise a little bit. If he can progess like Wilson did wed be lookin very nice.

I said it earlier but I like the pick. The guy is extremely athletic, great defender that can guard multiple positions, and has the ability to get better at shooting as he seems to have good mechanics and can work with Mike on that. I love the idea of him coming off the bench with TD and adding a spark especially on D and watch them cause havoc.
