And this is why it helps if you watch college basketball instead of just watching the prospects individually. His team and coach was sorry for his entire career. He took bad shots on a bad team. Could they possibly have been better? Possibly. But those shots were taken because there was no one else to take them. Same things were said about Stephen Curry when he came out. His shot selection sucked because his team sucked.

I think Iman will relish his role not having to play the star role.

this... the guy took almost a quarter of his entire teams shots last year... averaging 14 shots a game... hes not going to have to carry that type of load here... not even close... again... he may be a 'poor volume scorer'... but we dont need another volume scorer on this team... we just need a guy who can hit his open looks... and shumpert has that ability despite perhaps lacking the ability to create for himself... hes also a guy who can get out on the break and finish... an offensive aspect we dont really have at the moment that is becoming more and more important the way the style of the league is moving ala rose, westbrook, rondo, etc...

and i too think iman will be happy not having to do everything... the guy led his team in points rebounds assists and steals last year...

The kid sounds awesome. Love everything he said in the chat and love that he's a gym rat. Him and TD will be at the gym every day. I'm excited for the kid. has a ton of potential and sounds ready to work.

this kid's going to be the steal of the draft IMO. can't wait until he makes the haters on here eat some crow.

Eh...I mean, if he reaches his absolute full potential (which I doubt is going to happen because it rarely happens with any player), then I guess...but I wouldn't put any money on it happening.

Wade has a higher BBIQ, he has the "it" factor that can will his team to win (see his Marquette run and his play during the '04 finals), and he has better vision.

This pick has very little downside IMO. Even if he doesn't develop a jumper (which he will improve...he has nice form on his shot and just needs more reps), he's going to be a force on the defensive end, will be a good slasher, and is still a great athlete. It was a good pick and he'll fit in nicely IMO.

knowing we needed a guy with size who could run the floor and has potential Dontas MOntejunas was sitting for the picking and this kid has a ton of talent and in our system would of been a great fit for us, we could of taken a PG in late first early 2nd like a Charelss Jenkins/Norris cole/Reggie Jackson etc etc and we could of filled 2 needs...Ive been a huge fan of dontas for a while and I thgouth we had no shot of getting him and to see him available and us not take him really sucked

Dude, Dontas is 7 feet 215. Playing center is more than just height.[/quote]
He is stilll only 20 years old the guy is going to grow more and fill into his body and add weight....

i agree.. I read in an article yesterday (i forgot which one) that Amare called up the front office and told them we need to focus on defense this offseason.. I was glad to read that because our stars have to lead that charge on the court..

now someone from the front office call amare and tell him the same thing.

I'm really liking this kid. Not a big college b-ball guy so I usually don't know much about the players in any draft until I start reading up on them and watching mixes on youtube every june lol. As for Iman, I didn't even give him that much. Didn't expect the Knicks to take him and didn't know jack about his game. That being said, after doing some homework since last night....I love his game, his potential, his fit for this team and his demeanor. One of the things that stand out to me is the way he speaks and carries himself. Seems very mature and very intelligent. Lots of confidence too. For a guy with his talent, those characteristics are key in trying to translate that on the floor. Having guys like Melo, Amar'e and especially Chauncey around to push him and teach him will only accelerate that process. I think this was a really good pick for the Knicks especially considering who was left on the board. I think we got lucky here. Only time will tell though...

tommydee seems to be on the verge of crying if he didn't already, because the knicks didn't pick chris singleton with the 17th pick.

If that's true, this team is never winning a championship because Melo and Amare dont currently play defense.

How many times did Shumpert come in to work out for us? Was he in that 2nd chance last minute workout we had?

not that i can recall. after the 2nd workout, it was reported that they told him to shut it down so they could draft him.
