Only the top two teams are guaranteed spots in next years Olympics, and only the top 6 will remain in contention to even qualify. With only one or two of those teams actually getting spots.
Here are some of the announced Squads.
Host Nation Lithuania announced a preliminary squad of about 20 players.. Some interesting names included..
Šarūnas Jasikevičius
Jonas Valančiūnas
Darius Songaila
Donatas Motiejūnas
Will this be our first chance to get a good glmpse at Valanciunas and Montiejunas?
I wouldn't hold my breath. Valanciunas will play in U-19 WC, plus some veteran front line players are back (Songaila, Lavrinovic brothers, Songaila) are back. Motiejunas chances are slightly better since main PF Kleiza is out. But then Songaila's form is unknown, Petravicius (top scorer in 2009EC) had back problems and one of Lavrinovic brothers had quite crappy season..
