George Hill Appreciation Thread

Post#1 » by Donald Kaufman » Fri Jun 24, 2011 7:45 am

Still can't believe we traded this guy. He's a great young player with a lot of promise. He had a great series against Dallas in the first round last year. Unfortunately he followed that up with a stinker against the Suns in the next round. He wasn't too good against Memphis this year but who was?

He was great when Parker went down over the past few years, he stepped in and did a great job IMO.

I really enjoyed watching him play, hopefully he gets more of a chance to shine on the Pacers.

Im sure he will. And I think this was one of those 'nba is a business' kind of trades. Everyone loved George and he gave us a lot on the court, but in the end of the day we needed an atheletic SF more than we needed a great SG / PG backup.

Hope to see him do well in Indiana! (but not too well..!)

Spurs are my second favourite team so I hope you don't mind that I join in the appreciation! The Spurs are such a close ball club it makes trading almost feel 'wrong' like ousting a family member haha. But knowing the Spurs I'm sure they were clear with Hill that with the logjam at 2, and the dire need for some defense and athleticism at 3, a trade was needed.

Great player, nice surprise pick in the draft, hard working wiry guard who did a bit of everything. Like other posters have said, filled in the starting role when called upon and never complained. Good luck George, hopefully gets some serious PT with Indiana!

Absolutely only praise and gratitude for what George Hill did for us. We loved him here and he was really a gem we found that few others were aware of. Wish him all the best in Indiana!

I wish him nothing but the best down the road. He's one of favorite players, I love the passion that he plays the game with and I hope he does well with the Pacers.

Hopefully in the futre we'll see him back in a Spurs uniform.

He was the upmost professional. It sucks that we basically need to trade him because we will not be able to sign him down the road because of the Jefferson contract.

If you locked Hill up and asked him where would he want to be traded... I am sure Indiana would be at the top of the list.

I think it is a win win situation for both teams and if anything, in Indiana there is a legit chance of him being a starter instead of being a backup to someone.

I always liked him when he played for you and had to do a double take when they announced during the draft that he was going to the Pacers.
