When I first read up on Donatas, I felt the same way. But the more I read, the more I didn't want him. He's a 7 footer who doesn't like to be touched, has short arms (6'11 wingspan), and won't help in the two areas the Knicks NEED from their big man. Arms too short to block or rebound with any high amount of consistency.

No thanks

Who'd you want?

knowing we needed a guy with size who could run the floor and has potential Dontas MOntejunas was sitting for the picking and this kid has a ton of talent and in our system would of been a great fit for us, we could of taken a PG in late first early 2nd like a Charelss Jenkins/Norris cole/Reggie Jackson etc etc and we could of filled 2 needs...Ive been a huge fan of dontas for a while and I thgouth we had no shot of getting him and to see him available and us not take him really sucked

Dude, Dontas is 7 feet 215. Playing center is more than just height.

7'1 240. anyway I'm over it, I'm about to change my avatar

joakim noah has a poor standing reach for his height also. anyway I don't even know if that wingspan was official or when it was taken- could have been from when he was 16 or 17. his writeups always say he has good 'length'.

Reference to defense by D'antoni?

I agree. Regardless of how they turn/turned out, our last 2 first round draft picks were picked based on their intangibles on defense. Next move is to get a coach who shares this mindset.

In recent vids and photos he looks bigger than that. And he supposedly measured 7'0" barefoot (which would mean he's an NBA 7-1 or 7-1.5

that's outdated- he was measured in philly at 7' barefoot (so about 7'1 in shoes) and 240.

Takin Charlie Ward's number huh? It's appropriate, Charlie was a great defender. Let's hope Iman develops his 3-pointer.

Just hope Shumpert isn't as much of a Jesus freak.

Good interviews on NBA.com from Shumpert and Dantoni at the press conference.

Seems Dantoni loved his shooting and pick and roll play when we worked him out. Shocked that people said he couldnt shoot because he couldnt miss with us.
