I have no idea how to feel about kanter, it's that simple. Hopefully he plays for turkey this summer so we get a preview.

Before that The Sheik and I were both talking about Eric Maynor before anyone here was talking about Maynor, we both loved him, and after the Jazz picked him we were stoked.
I had to come out of posting exile for this. I loved Maynor, really bummed to lose him. In. fact he'd be a great PG for this new team.
I love this draft, BPA at both spots, and the front office got "KOC blocked" by the bball people for trying to move up for Jimmer. Good sign for the future, on paper this draft looks great.
So.... Enes Kanter, Favors, Burks (not making playoffs), Harris and GSW pick for Deron. looking pretty good.

I think Enes is a lite Kevin Love. We are lacking big time on the board, and he fits an immediate need there. Just like Love he is a space filler, big down low, and versatility to add range to his O game. His greatest D assest will be his ability to alter shots and clean the glass.
I think his upside is Kevin Love, at worst he is a 10-12 and 10 starting C.
The big picture is we have 4 building pieces that are 19-20. This core is a great place to start our rebuilding effort.

Sheik! What's up bro? You still in school?
I see the comparison, hell he could be full Kevin love, who knows. Or full Demarcus cousins, or he could be nothing. I really don't have super high expectations because I just don't know what to expect, but I do trust that the jazz knew what they were doing. I'm excited about the pick, can't wait to see him in action.

Not much man, I actually graduated back in August, and moved out to cali. I've been reading more than posting lately, mostly on the twitter tip these days. Good to see you and some of the others posting still. how have you been? Still working downtown?

Re: Kanter goes 3, Burks goes 12
The thing I like about Kanter as a big, is that he looks like he plays "big." Both Borchard and Koufus were tall, but I never got the sense that they were a beast on the court. Hafa was a beast, but with no skill. Fes is a beast, but with no heart. Hopefully, Kanter can be a beast with skill and heart. If so, he may not be a superstar but he will be a good player, a rebounding machine (which we are sorely lacking), and a tough matchup for other bigs.
I also like having lots of bigs in rotatation. Sharing the minutes might drive them crazy, but big bodies are injury prone and having a solid rotation of bigs where the talent doesn't drop off and where we can take advantage of match ups makes a lot of sense to me. I wouldn't trade Al or Paul, instead I would get rid of Fes and Elson, use Memo sparingly and as a mentor, and make sure the young guys get plenty of time on the court without killing them off.

How can Enes Kanter be Kevin Love lite when he is taller and bigger than K-Love???
And what did you mean by the "KOC block" comment for trying to get Jimmer? Has something been floated out there that they wanted to move up to get him?

He said Kevin Love lite, not Kevin Love short.

Uh-huh...you're point being?
If you think he is comparable to Kevin Love than he is going to be better than Love because of his size...so how is he Kevin Love lite?

That doesn't make any sense. Here's what Bat said:

Why would being taller mean that Enes is going to automatically be better at the things both have a knack for? Both appear to be rebounders that rely on position, rather than leaping ability. However, Bat believes that ability is more developed in Love and that Kanter is unlikely to equal him, despite their similarities.
Some people on here have called Hayward "Ginobli Lite." Does that mean they all think he's going to be better than Ginobli, since Gordon is taller?

If you have the same skill set as a player and are taller than said player then yes, you're going to be better.
Is it really that hard of a concept to grasp? More size = better. It's that simple.
Whatever, this is stupid to even debate about.

It is pretty stupid to debate about. . . .especially since you have no idea what he is talking about.
People call Hayward "Ginobli lite" because he is a slasher who can pass and hit the outside jumpshot. They have a very similar style of game. They say "lite" because Ginobli does those things better. Is it really that hard of a concept to grasp?

Wow, you're really having trouble with this, aren't you? Let me see if I can break it down further...
If Kanter and Kevin Love were in gym class, and they took a test on boxing out to get defensive rebounds, Enes Kanter would get a "B." He's very good at it, but not great. Kevin Love would get an "A" because he's amazing at it. There are a number of reasons this may be the case. Perhaps Kevin Love has slightly sharper reflexes. Perhaps his instincts are a little better. Perhaps he uses his weight a tad more effectively to seal guys off.
Do you truly not fathom that it's possible for a shorter player to be better at a certain aspect of basketball?

Like I said, stupid to argue.
I understand the concept perfectly fine yet you guys seem to not be able to wrap your heads around an even more simple concept.
You guys clearly don't understand what I'm trying to say and I supposedly don't understand what you're trying to say so I'm just leaving it.
Moving on...before you guys can troll some more.

I like the potential fit of Kanter/Favors down the line. Kanter will have enough size and strength to guard the 5 spot, and Favors can offer weakside help for the team.

Re: Kanter goes 3, Burks goes 12
More size pretty much is better.
Take the top 25 players in the league. 25 of them would be better with an extra inch of height. Height is very important in basketball, I'm surprised folks hadn't noticed before.

"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Of course it is. But being taller doesn't suddenly make you have more skill or mental capacity. Surprised folks haven't noticed THAT before. There's a reason Kyrylo Fesenko doesn't out-rebound Kevin Love.

That has absolutely nothing to do with height.
I see both sides of the argument here. If you are saying that he is going to have the skills of Kevin Love, then why wouldn't he be better than Love given the height advantage, unless of course you don't think he will have the skills of Love, but then why the Love comparison at all?
Personally, I don't see him scoring nearly as much or as well as Love, but I think he can be as good of a rebounder. He might be more like a 3rd Gasol brother than Love-lite.

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...
