Post-Draft Trade Ideas Before The Lockout
OK, we've done what we've done, and now it's time to think about the future. I know Cho and MJ are building for the future, and we're collecting assets, and that means we're probably not gonna make a deal that brings immediate help. But let's project ideas for deals that might be reasonably available based on the new player landscape after this draft.
IDEA: Charlotte deals Diaw, DJ to the Warriors for Monta Ellis
Ellis agent has told the Warriors he wants out. Not sure if this is the perfect deal for them, but it would provide a young PG to pair with Curry and Klay, along with an expiring Diaw to help their front line. While we take on more salary downstream, the Cats would have a small, dynamic backcourt that could run the wheels off opponents while providing intense scoring options. We could use a variety of matchups during a game, going small with Kemba, Ellis, Hendo, T2, BoBo...or get large with Kwame, BoBo, Tyrus, Hendo and Ellis.
I think Ellis has become one of the better SG's in the league. His defense can be an issue, but he and Kemba together could be awesome here. With Henderson healthy and on the floor with them we could be a very dangerous team.
Thoughts? Other trade proposals?

A) The money doesn't even go close to matching.
B) Kemba and Ellis would be a horrible pairing.

I would rather trade Diaw's expiring for a first next year.

Those two players arent nearly as valuable as Monta Ellis is. Nobody is going to want Diaw either. The man can barely get up and down the court and once he does make it to the other end he's useless and out of breath

Cannot imagine very many (any) teams will be making deals with the lockout looming...

Huh? There is nothing wrong with Diaw's motor at all.

Any combination of players over the age of 25 on our team for any 1st round 2012 pick or cap relief.
I love rebuilding. Makes things simple.

Color me crazy but I think Doris Meow should stay on the team til the trade deadline, aslong as he mentors BB and teaches him post moves. BB's defense with Doris Post moves? WOW

And I'm perfectly fine with it

Re: Post-Draft Trade Ideas Before The Lockout
What about this deal
Charlotte in: Gordon Hayward
Jazz in: DJ Augustin
We get a small forward with upside and Jazz get a young PG in DJ. Hayward is on a three year rookie contract and would be a good guy to give minutes too this year behind Mags and then if he pans out he can either be your starting small forward or a backup to possibly Barnes.
If Jazz wouldnt take we could maybe take a chance on Okur too as he has a huge expiring contract at nearly 10 million and try to send Diop, Carroll, Mexicat, Diaw, or TT back in the deal as well.

I don't see the Jazz going for that, but hope springs eternal.
Boris is going to be difficult to trade before the seasons starts. IMO I think most teams are only going to want him as an expiring contract.

I agree. I think we went into this draft with Harrison Barnes in mind.
Kemba/ (Defensive vet PG thats over 6'2)
Hendo / (3pt specialist)(or super sixth man)
Barnes/ (defensive specialist SF..Dante?)
TT/(offensive dedicated PF)/DJ White
BB/Kwame/(Depth C)
our starting 5 will be locked in just need to ethier draft or sign good bench players
I wouldn't mind resigning Diaw aslong as he agreed to a resonable contract and was perfectly willing to come off the bench

Re: Post-Draft Trade Ideas Before The Lockout
Hayward would be a great guy to get for DJ. I mean it is about as even a trade you could make. We could still grab a SF in next years draft and move Hayward to the bench. I thought we were trying to collect young assets. If we honestly think Kemba is the PG of the future then we should do this in a heartbeat. I am not saying Hayward is the SF of the future, but he has a better chance then Dante. He could also play some SG for us if we need him to. I would be pissed if we turned this trade down. I do not know if Utah is interested in a point guard as much as everyone says though.

Re: Post-Draft Trade Ideas Before The Lockout
Hell no to anymore Diaw. He has more than overstayed his welcome here..
Can't speak for the quality of Heyward, but we should be able to get a quality player for DJ.
Any chance OJ Mayo gets moved now?

Re: Post-Draft Trade Ideas Before The Lockout
It'll be interesting to see what they do. We still need that superstar to be the focal point of the franchise, but what took place yesterday was really only step 2 in a series of what will be many steps. We may have gotten our Westbrook and our Ibaka but we still need the Durant.

Re: Post-Draft Trade Ideas Before The Lockout
I wonder if the Sacramento Kings would entertain a trade of D.J. Augustin & D.J. White for Jason Thompson & Donte Greene. Thompson could help fill the Bobcats void at C and Greene would add some versatility to the SF position. The Kings could probably benefit with Augustin as a backup PG to Jimmer to help balance out their backcourt depth.
