I don't know why other Nugget fans are praising this trade. When I saw the details, I was like "we got fleeced". Dallas and Portland emerged the real winners of the trade.

It's funny how the POR board seems to think the same. I think this trade was good, as Miller is just as good as Felton, albeit with quite a different skillset, and far more willing to let Lawson take to starting role, which is very good. Furthermore, the Nugs got a promising pick (although the comments on his coachability are worrying).

Should be noted that POR fans seems to be sure that Faried was the FO first choice in the draft, so the trade must have affected their pick too. Maybe they promised to pass on him, to get the trade done? If true, that's quite a good added value.

Hopefully that's true. I'd like to see Smith back and apparently Masai wants to bring him back.

But yeah it's probably too presumptuous to assume that we are replacing anyone just yet, there's a chance we re-sign everyone or let a bunch of people walk (it seems like the FO wants everyone back though). Hamilton is definitely a little ways away, especially on d.

uh..how? we traded felton for a pg on a similar level making similar money and got 2 picks in addition. plus felton wanted out anyways...good to get rid of those type of players.

I fail to see how Portland is a winner in this trade. They were out to find a long-term solution to their PG problem. Felton is at best, a marginal upgrade over Miller and he's a free agent at the end of the year. On top of that, they dumped Fernandez for nothing, sent us a 2nd round pick and may have passed on the guy they wanted in the draft, Faried. All that for an average PG who probably isn't a starter on at least 75% of the teams in the league.

From our perspective, Felton obviously wanted out. No other team was going to give us a PG of similar quality, plus multiple picks. Miller is a guy who's comfortable in our system, that our coach and front office are familiar with. Worst comes to worst, he has the same contract as Felton and can walk away at the end of the year if it doesn't work out. I'd say that's pretty damn good value for a guy who was going to force is way out eventually.

Felton is reportedly willing to sign an extension in Portland if they want him later. So yeah don't think that Felton is a one year stop gap measure for us if he works out here. Fernandez is a horrible shooter and he has slumps of shooting that last MONTHS. He is either on fire or can't hit the rim with his shots. Its funny how overrated the media has made Fernandez when he is the definition of inconsistent.

Funny that people blame McMillan for Rudy's problems when he gets wide open shots in our system.

But yeah just cause Felton hated being a Nugget doesn't mean that he will hate being a Blazer.

People told us Camby would walk away from us the year we traded for him also. A single chant of Marcus Camby by the fans and he now wants to retire a Blazer.

Dallas got Fernandez for nothing. Lucky them.

Fernandez is streaky as hell, and his hype has never matched his production. I used to like him, but the last thing we need is very inefficient, likes to complain, and is a bad defender. All things the team seems to be trying to stay away from.

This deal did make a lot of sense for the Nuggets. I had Faried as the guy I wanted to the Nuggets to draft but I expected him off the board by the time we drafted. Part of this deal allowed for the Nuggets to draft Faried. Also we have a replacement in case we lose a free agent wing. And I'll admit I've called Raymond Felton a chucker and have been in favor of Lawson to start and play major minutes. We now have that situation cleared up with a solid backup.

I'm not sure how copacetic Miller will be coming off the bench there guys.

He thinks he is still a starter on most teams and he may regress if forced to be a bench guy.

The difference between him coming off the bench here and in Portland was that he was coming off the bench behind Steve Blake.

Your vocabulary gets a +1

It'll be easier to get Andre to accept the bench role....He'll still get his minutes

I don't see him regressing because he is still going to get his 30 minutes per game :banghead: Felton received his 30 minutes and he still had an issue, but he had one before he even suited up in a Nuggets uniform. Time will tell. If it becomes a problem, he is an expiring contract in what will likely be a shortened season anyway.
