The biggest concerns I have with the Shumpert pick is exactly what you bring up: PERCEPTION!
Shumpert is not a PG! Forget what he played in high school or for stretches at GT! He is not a PG!
Shumpert needs to extend his jumpshooting range if we keep this same offense!. But if we were to modify it to something closer to GSW then he would be LETHAL!
Shumpert is a very good perimeter defender. Think pressing defense as opposed to half-court lock your man in a set.
Again, I like the pick but I still think we need a third offensive weapon!
I 100% agree with you. I have always seen Shumpert as a 2, who could spot at the 1 for a few mins. Then again, that is also how I see Westbrook.
It still doesn't explain why they were viewed on entirely different tiers as prospects though.
