Why for ATL: Gives them a cheaper backup PG behind Teague, and a young center with offensive potential.
Why for MIN: Consolidates some talent, and gives them a large expiring heading into an offseason where they'll need to give extensions to Love, Beasley, and Randolph.

Re: MIN / ATL Idea
I think our GM has had Ridnour in Seattle and I think he liked him, and Pekovic is, if nothing else, a big enough body to put @ C. It's not a homerun trade, but I wouldn't mind it if Sund pulled the trigger on something like this.

I'll bet we're counting on letting Hinrich's expiring contract keep us out of the LT after next season. The question, then, becomes, "Will we pay the LT for Ridnour/Pekovic?"
Probably not.
Probably not.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Not bad but I agree Hinrich will expire next year and that will be the end of him which is another reason I never liked that trade and never will unless he helps us get to the ECFinals or better. We could still trade him to Minny though.
Wayne Ellington would give us a knockdown shooter
Anthony Randolph is a good prospect who always looks good when teams play him plus has an expiring
Anthony Toliver has an expiring and is a decent energy big off the bench.
Only contract we would be left with is Ellington and he would only be making 1.154 million. So, thats all we would be adding for 2012-13 after dealing Kirk. We might have to throw a future pick in there because of Randolph though and I would not give them a future 1st maybe a 2nd or a couple 2nd's.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=6xrypu8
Also, we could trade Kirk for Beasley and Ellington since they have such a logjam at the SF/PF position. I prefer Beasley over Marvin.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=676ln7r
We only have Ellingtons contract left over once again because Beasley is expiring.
I dont like just letting valuable players expire. Even if we only end up with Wayne Ellington that would be okay because he fills a need of a knockdown shooter

-I'd be fine adding Wayne, and it works in the Trade Machine. Other Wolves fans might not be.
-Randolph might be our starting center next year, and likely won't be dealt.
-Tolliver's a possibility, but I don't see the need for him in Atlanta if moving Horford to PF.
-Beasley is not getting traded, especially not for just Hinrich.

Would Brad Miller's Insurance-covered deal be better for you then?

I would pass. Hinrich is not just an expiring contract, he is a solid player as well. He gives the Hawks insurance in case Jamal isn't back and is a very good PG. Trading him for a worse PG doesn't make much sense.

Kirk: 8.6 ppg, 3.3 apg in 28.6 mpg
Luke: 11.8 mpg, 5.4 apg in 30.4 mpg
Huh?

Re: MIN / ATL Idea
Kirk's value is all perception. His perceived great basketball IQ and toughness. The perception that he makes young PG's better. I am not a fan of those perceptions and they are hardly reality but if someone wants to believe these unproven perceptions why should it be us? We should sell him to the Wolves as someone that can make Rubio better and claim he has done the same for Wall, Rose, and Teague and try to get Beasley and Ellington. Just pick up Earl Watson, Travis Ford, which ever you can afford and get Demetri McCamey from the rookie free agent pool and we will be fine. Hinrich's value is really in perception and not reality. We were a worse team with Hinrich than without as far as wins and we may have beat Orlando anyway since they messed up there team in a horrible way. Vince, Rashard, and Gortat all gave us fits. The Kirk supporters are giving him too much credit for doing little to nothing. He was brought here to make us better against better competition and failed for the most part with the exception of 6 games.

Any Beasley trade would probably require Josh Smith or Al Horford coming our way.

For some reason I just love Hinrich's game. Give this guy a full trainning camp with this team and you will see what he's capable of. His defense, jump shot, and ability to play multiple positions will make us better.

Beasley really isn't what we need. We could use Rubio. We just don't have a need for Beasley to be honest. He would just add another player who needs to ball and we have too many already.

You're forum mod and you'd say something like that? Even the worst homer should know better.
This a place for opinions, sure, but those opinions need to be at least a little bit grounded in reality.

Re: MIN / ATL Idea
Minnesota and Atlanta aren't good trading partners. Our key assets play the same positions (Love/Derrick Williams vs Horford/Smith). We've each got a SF that doesn't have as much trade value as their draft position should indicate (Beasley vs Marvin Williams). Minnesota does have more unproven prospects than we do (Rubio, Wesley Johnson, Randolph) and we have a high price vet (Joe Johnson), but even that doesn't mess well because it is unlikely that either side is ready to swap a bunch of mismatched pieces for Joe's huge contract.
As far as Beasley goes, he's put up stats on a bad team, but not in a collaborative way. There are questions of proper fit and the salary a #2 pick commands is enough to make him not a bargain risk. I'm not sure what team is a good candidate for him, but I think he'd be a candidate to trade for maybe a less talented (in raw terms) but better fitting player.

Re: MIN / ATL Idea
Beasley salary really does not matter because he is expiring. No way they can find playing time for Beasley, Love, Derrick Williams, and Anthony Randolph. Kirk Hinrich can play PG and SG, he would have more value to them than the odd man out of Beasley, Love, Derrick Williams, and Randolph. Derrick Williams and Rubio both need atleast 30 minutes a night you dont draft guys that high and play them less.
Rubio 30 mpg/Ridnour 18mpg
Wesley Johnson 30 mpg/? Kirk could give you a solid 18 mpg
Derrick Williams 30 mpg/Beasley 18mpg
Love 35 mpg/Beasley 13mpg
Darko 20mpg/Brad Miller 18 mpg/Pekovic 10 mpg
Like earlier it makes sense we could use the depth. Kirk for Anthony Randolph, Anthony Tolliver and Wayne Ellington would be a good move for both parties. On the other hand, Twolves drafted Malcolm Lee and Bogdanovic who may both be able to play 18 mpg backup SG. Twolves are becoming a wasteland for players like everyone sees and knows they are going to have to trade some of these guys for veteran talent at some point. The problem is other than Love none of there talent is going to bring back anything better than a vet like Kirk Hinrich until Rubio and Williams prove themselves.
