It also didn't help that GT didn't have a good PG(counting Shumpert as a SG). Obviously Jazz fans disagree as well as they keep saying that Favors is the future of their franchise because of how well he played at the end of the year.
He averaged 12 and 8...towards the end of the season he played better. I also don't know how you can say he averaged 18 and 9 when he stayed out of foul trouble...not sure how you got that stat because you can't determine when he was in foul trouble now. Fouls are a part of the game and taking him out of foul trouble is like saying Howard could average 25 and 15 if he wasn't always in foul trouble either. Fouls are a part of the game and if he can't adjust to them, it's his fault. You shouldn't be able to pick "stats" like that (if this is even considered a legit one) to help prove a point. I feel bad for doing off topic lol.
Back on topic - he was a good pick and is a shooting guard that can handle the ball - similar to the way Joe Johnson (not comparing him to Shumpert) can handle and not be a point guard. Perfect fit net to Billups and TD because we can move those guys off ball.

Shumpert - Sprewell Comparisons
Similar height and position.
Both picked in the teens.
Both known for their stellar Athleticism and Defensive prowess coming out of College.
Both not known for shooting efficiency/ offensive prowess initially.
Could Shumpert be the diamond in the rough the Spree turned out to be?

Re: Shumpert - Spreewell Comparisons
hmm interesting comparison. Shumpert lacks the intensity of sprewell but also the craziness so it might balance out. Its possible. All shumpert has to do is tighten his handle and pick his shots better and he will be a very good nba player

i though another thing on favors coming out was that he didnt have good guards to get him the rock at the right time during college career

The worst thing is that his name sounds like a scrub name.
I hope he plays well.

shumpert can ball, he has size and length and a good basketball head on his shoulders. has the potential to be a great pick...

My bad I meant to say the last 11 games he averaged 18 and 9 and that was because he wasn't getting into early foul trouble like he did early on.
Agreed on that. Shumpert is a very good ball handler and also is a very good passer.

TKF, you saw him a lot since you live down there! What do you think of his handle and potential to add the three-point shot?

Shumpert won't be our starting SG, but he'll grow to be our Shannon Brown.
Thats a nice comparison. He can be a guy who can bring energy and athleticism off the bench for us.

i dont mind shumpert, but at 17 i think it was too high
The notion that he "didn't stand out" when he led his team in points, rebounds, assists, and steals is pretty ridiculous.

I saw him a few times, he has a pretty good handle and good form on his shot.. what I noticed more about him is how much he harassed ball handlers on the perimeter, this kid is a good athlete and if puts it all together can be special...

Re: The Iman Shumpert Perception
Funny that Iman considers himself a pure point and envisions himself playing the point in the future and now he will probably be playing two guard. Who would you rather running the point off the bench Anthony Carter, Toney Douglas or Iman Shumpert?
Jazz: Under reconstruction, we'll be back.

Re: The Iman Shumpert Perception
Even if he's a PG like Westbrook, to have Shumpert running the point at that size and being able to ignite the offense is a huge advantage to have so I'd take Shumpert easy.
