2011 NBA Draft: Third Round

Post#1 » by Rich Rane » Sat Jun 25, 2011 3:40 am

This topic is for undrafted free agents. Here's a small list of notable names who weren't drafted.

- Michael Dunigan (International) C
- LaceDarius Dunn (Baylor) SG
- Diante Garrett (Iowa State) PG
- Ben Hansbrough (Notre Dame) PG/SG
- Scotty Hopson (Tennessee) SG/SF
- Rick Jackson (Syracuse) PF/C
- Malcolm Lee (UCLA) SG
- David Lighty (Ohio State) SG/SF
- Demetri McCamey (Illinois) PG
- Willie Reed (St. Louis) PF
- Jereme Richmond (Illinois) SF
- Greg Smith (Fresno State) C
- Malcolm Thomas (San Diego State) SF/PF
- Chris Wright (Dayton) SF/PF

Anyone see a diamond in the rough? Perhaps we should've taken one of them with one of our 2nd rounders? Any practice squad invites or D-League fillers?

Malcolm Lee was drafted. By the T-Wolves, if I recall correctly.

I hope we take a long look at David Lighty and Malcolm Thomas.

I think Richmond of Illinois U is the pick here. The guy will become a bigtime shooter imo. I like his shooting form.

I'd add Corey Stokes of Villanova to the list. Has shot 42% from 3 over the past three seasons. Listed at 6'5" but with a 6'9" wingspan.

Well, obviously he's not there yet, not even decent enough to get drafted but im just basing my opinion from what i've seen during the tournament. Please dont get me wrong, there's more chance of him not making it to the NBA but i just happen to like his form when he shoots the ball. I like the release and i love players that can shoot from the baseline. It's just me lol. Plus, i love the underdogs. Im sick of players that gets to be talked about all the time and doesnt even get drafted. I love the unknown VC lol.

Yeah, I was just talking about his shooting. His form is decent, but it's inconsistent and he was just awful from deep.

I know... And so are the other undrafted FAs. Each has their own flaws and im pretty sure none of them are really good shooters because if they are, they would've been drafted like Diebler whose biggest weapon is his shooting.

What im saying is, for me, i just happen to like Richmond, i just like his shooting form. That's all. He may get better and may not, i could be wrong, but i just have this gut feeling that he will improve his touch along with his already good form.

Its the same as you liking Hamilton so much but for me, i just dont see him becoming a decent player. What i see from him is a Gerald Wallace bust. But then again, i could be wrong. My eyes just didnt see it when i used to watch him during the tournament. I know he was pretty good in college but i dont think he can translate his game or even develop it to the NBA level.

Because the Nets already have three point guards under contract and Scottie isn't a real two guard. Even if you want to argue his height wouldn't be a problem because of his strength he's just not quick enough...

Most of them are probably going overseas. They get paid, and get to play. Remember there's no summer league.
