Hes not the greatest at running the point, but hes capable...and is better than Toney at it..

the way alan described shumpert you would think the guy is the 2nd coming of jared jeffries and turiaf on the offensive end.

Earth to alan hahn, he already knows how to run the pick and roll. this is evidence that he is basing his information off others(jay bilas, doug gottlieb and the "experts") instead of doing the research on his own.

In no way does this guy remind me of sprewell, Spree could shoot, this guy seems like he is more of a PG type

i've come to the conclusion that there are a lot of "yes men" amongst us. it seems as if these ESPN 1050 reporters are programed or it's written on a sheet of paper to repeat everything the person ahead them says.

since the selection of Shumpert, the "yes men" have been taking what jay bilas and doug gottlieb say as words from god, instead of seeking information for themselves.

Now Jody is saying:

- shumpert will never be a chris paul or derek rose type point guard -- i wonder if these guys realize billups will most likely be gone before the February deadline in a trade for chris paul

- shumpert isn't thought of as a scorer -- he lost me with this comment

- why draft shumpert if you already have landry -- i must be the only person that saw players get by landry with ease.

- he isn't going to stop derek rose, rajon rajon, or deron williams -- huh? the only reason rajon looked like a man amongst boys, was due to toney shying away from being physical. Shumpert seems more like an anthony carter type player in terms of making players feel uncomfortable.

- singleton would've been a better fit -- maybe by keeping the chairs warm on the bench

- he will be compared to tobias harris and chris singleton -- when the hell did tobias get into the conversation.

espn 1050 reporters = sheep

acquire phil jackson and his triangle offense and watch how fast these "experts" change their tune on shumpert. :lol:

When Spree was drafted he was considered a combo guard known of his defensive prowess. He surprised with his shooting ability and I think Iman is going to do the same thing. He has great form on his shot and with all the attention Amare and Melo are going to get, this kid will have plenty of open looks. Not to mention DAntoni says he can run the pick and roll. Lastly the kid has MAD hops and can definitely finish. He is a hard worker and I believe he will get better.

The main difference I see is that Iman may have more PG skills and I also think Spree was one of the fastest players in the league, especially his first step.

I do like the comparison; already the experts are saying they don't like the pick. He is going to shut up all of the haters.

I'm really tired of people thinking this guy is going to come in and produce right away. I'm saying the guy did drop to pick 17 and was projected to drop more. He's not going to be a superstar or even an all-star. But can he be a rotational player? hopefully for the Knicks sake.
Will he be able to slow down the Drose , Rondos, DWill of the world ...? Probably but these guys usually crap on most defense guards..

What will be crucial is if Iman can develop into a PG. If he can't its kinda of a waste pick since he's not a good enough shooter to become a shootinguard.

I think we should have been more creative in this draft. Maybe move up? make a trade , just do something besides kinda settling...

I like the mention of Kevin Pritchard. He would have definitely been more active than Donnie/ Grunweld

I've been thinking about the pick the past couple of days and after arguing with a few members here, I am somewhat starting to warm up to the pick. The more I think about it, Iman does fill a big need for this team, and he does have great potential. I really need to see him play though before I come to an conclusions about whether or not this was the right pick. I wish that summer league wasn't cancelled

Yeah like moving up in the draft is just soooo easy to do. :lol:

Do you honestly think the Knicks didn't want to move up in the draft? We just didn't have the assets other teams wanted. The Melo trade left the team with little to offer so settling at #17 was pretty much all they could do.

Biyombo seemed like a good target. Before you iman stans come here and berate me , just remember iman was somebody that was suppose to drop all the way to late 1st / early 2nd round..

If the knicks waited more they probably could have gotten Iman if they bought that pick from chicago.
If they took Faried at 17 and then took Iman later on in the draft, i wouldn't have a problem with that..

i would have preferred if they where more active. they weren't. i didn't expect them take on salary etc for picks or whatever, they've got a plan, got a player and didn't **** up with they had in mind.
