Kobe Vs. Iverson

Post#1 » by KB24TBOTB » Sat Jun 25, 2011 4:19 am

A friend of mine and I were having an argument on who is better, Kobe or AI. I personally feel that Kobe is the better player but my friend just brings up the fact that AI was the better player because he led a **** team to the NBA Finals. I want to see what others think.

If that's the case then Lebron has to be the greatest player ever because he lead arguably the worse team in NBA history to the NBA Finals, take Lebron out and the rest of that team were all trash.

But you can't argue that way, Lebron had Wade and Bosh with him and didn't fare so well. Iverson was absolutely really good and one of the best in 2001, he may have been better than Kobe in 2001 but overall career wise Kobe is much better. Don't forget the East was a complete joke back in 2001. Iverson's resume pretty much went downhill after 2001.

the only player in my opinion who couldve stood up to Kobe's level was T-mac, but then he slipped and things took a turn for the worse for him...i appreciate what A.I. brought to the NBA though, particularly the ankle breakers

^^
Prime Tracy McGrady was absolutely vicious, but the same could be said of Vince Carter-- I remember a time when the Lakers were willing to trade Kobe Bryant for Vince Carter.

The three of them were absolutely nuts. In fact, if you compare them, at their prime, to LeBron James, you'll notice a definitive disparity in basketball talent.

If the 2006 Lakers were on the eastern conference in 2001 then Kobe could have easily lead them to the finals, they almost took out the suns. No chance in hell can Iverson beat the prime suns team. The East was really weak back then.

Lol, this is Kobe easily. Basically all stats along with the eye test make this clear.

The interesting thing to contemplate is what would have happened had Kobe been drafted by the 76'ers ... that draft class was the greatest of all-time!

Kobe has more proofs in his pocket, but when AI shined, he took over the NBA and fans.

And this is the reason why this thread is created.

what a disgrace...
and how in the hell ai was better than kobe in 01 season?
there was 5 players in the league that year deserved Mvp over ivy that season and young kobe was one of them.
and in the playoffs&finals best two players in the league was shaq&kobe, while everyone remembers ivy s 50 points games in the 01 playoffs nobody remembers his 10-30,10-31,8-27 performances and how he shoot %38 to average his 32 ppg.
and i hate 'ai carried his team to the finals' thing.
in 08 wc playoffs kobe averaged;
31,9 ppg 6 rpg 5,8 apg while shooting over %50 and having godly ts,dominating the clutch.
but i must be wrong it was mighty gasol who carried lakers over spurs with averages of 13 ppg on %44...
same things can be said about 01 wc playoffs and 08-09-10.
only thing iverson did better than kobe was averaging more IVO-ASSISTS.
