There was also talk that the Raptors would be going after a defensive-minded wing player that can also play in the flow offense that Casey plans on using. Any idea who we could target?

OAKLEY_2 wrote:We'll target Chandler or Haywood especially in a hardcap environment. Casey has a history with both. Gasol is a pipe dream. Jordan would clash with JV. Haywood makes sense because he would devolve into a back-up over the course of his deal, has the shiddy contract etc. TPE-Haywood? Just like signing a free agent.

I like this. If we're looking for a stop-gap centre to save Amir and Ed the toil on their bodies next year, then fit in a rotation with Valanciunas when he comes over, Haywood should be our guy.

Also like the idea of Oden. This team needs to take chances if it wants to be good.

Gasol for Bargnani+Alabi seems like a fair trade for Memphis

Go after veteran Center like Joel Pryzbilla or Delembarty instead overpaying for DeAndre Jordan and Marc Gasol. Trade Bargnani/Calderon for starting point guard for the future and draft the small forward for the future next years draft...

The core

Demar ... sg for the future
Ed....Pf for the future
Jones V.... Center for the future

Amir Davis .... 6th man for the future

PG ... through trade
SF... next years draft( Barnes, Perry, Gilchrist and my favorite Quincy)

The Center won't be anyone with name recognition, or be that GOOD.

This could only work, if Barbosa declines his player option. What if we help out a team? The Clippers will want to re-sign Jordan as their starting/future 5. But they also have Kamen on the books for approx. 12.7mil next year. With Barbosa declining his option, we free up lots of cap space to absorb Kamen's salary for one year. In return, they give us their (the one Minny owes them) 1st round draft pick for our troubles. We get a stopgap 5 (a decent one) until JoVa comes over and hopefully an additional pick in the deep 2012 pick.

Kamen/Davis
Bargs/Amir
JJ/Kleiza
DeMar
Bayless/Jose

That team is still lottery bound, so we could end up with two lottery picks next year. Perfect to go after a star SF and/or PG. Barnes/Kabongo anyone???

That Minny pick in 2012 is very likely to end up in the top 5 next year. They could package it with Kaman but his deal expires after this 11-12 year. I think they'd rather pay both Kaman and Jordan for one year than give up a very high pick in next year's star studded draft. However if they offer it to me, I would jump on it in a second.

His defensive presence also has the potential to completely change the team. I would prefer Gasol. But I wouldn't be opposed to taking a shot at Oden. The last thing we need to do is overpay for a player because he won a ring. So chandlers out for me.

Let the mavericks or someone else overpay for his ring.

Oden was on my radar too but his inability to stay healthy these past few seasons has really really worried me. The thing with Oden as well is if you sign him, you gotta sign another C as well. Obviously someone not that expensive like maybe Foster or Kwame Brown who can step in and play if Oden goes down with an injury again. I don't even know what I would pay him but I don't see me going over 8 million a year for him and there would be a lot of options during the course of that deal. But if does stay healthy. he definitely a franchise caliber C. I wouldn't want to rush him into starter's minutes though.

I don't want Haywood. His contract is hideous and if we do take him from Dallas, they would need to send some kind of incentive our way for doing so. Also somebody asked is Dally is a good teacher or mentor? I honestly have no idea and that's something we should express to him if we intend on signing him. I'm just saying from a standpoint of likeliness, I think that's our guy.

If Dalembert is indeed our guy i wouldn't sign him for more than 2 years with a club option for a 3rd , but BC loves long-term deals.. Pretty soon he'll be announcing that we locked up Barbosa to a 3 or 4 year deal..

Dalembert is old as hell, declining, and plays better when trying to get a contract. He's looking for big money. Marc Gasol is a pipe dream. Chandler will not play for us, Dal will resign him...

Haywood is not that great and you want to pay 8-9 million to a center who will inevitably play back up for us? Terrible, terrible. DeAndre Jordan is extremely overrated on this board for some strange reason, and is inferior to Jonas in every way possible.

There is no reason to go after any centers right now and I will be really disappointed if we do.

I think We will be trying to obtain one of these centers:

-Joel Pryzbilla
-Samuel Dalembert
-Nazr Mohammed
-Aaron Gray
-Jamaal Magloire

I think there's a smaller chance (but still a possibility) that we could bring in Brendan Haywood. I do not see BC taking a chance on Greg Oden. I also think acquisitions like DeAndre Jordan, Marc Gasol, Tyson Chandler, Hilario Nene, are simply not going to happen.

Understood. But because BC looks serious about keeping Bargs, I'm lead to believe he'll go after a C this offseason...well if there is an offseason.

Hopefully I didn't come off rude in that post, didn't mean to. But I will say that if he is serious about keeping Bargnani then he is a fool who should be fired. If I were him, I'd attempt to make him look as good as possible this season (if there is one) and then ship him off.

I don't understand why BC is so reluctant on trading Bargnani. It's been 5 seasons and we've all seen what is and isn't capable of. I've never seen a player get so many chances especially for a player who isn't even that good to begin with. Literally 90% of the fanbase hates the guy so I don't know what BC is waiting for...

True, that pick could very well be the number 1 pick. I would still take on the salary for a top 5 protected.

I fully expect this signing to be Dally.

The thing we have to offer is playing time and the ability for veterans to be leaders and maybe get a last decent contract. Players like Rasual Butler, Raja Bell, Shane Battier, Kurt Thomas would all help the yute. I'd even take a look a Troy Murphy. You want the GUNZ to think that there is some forward motion but not so much that a good lotto position is torched in favour of 10th seed.

I thought Ed Johnson was our 6th man of the future.
