Your 2011 Starting Lineup. (Thus far, I mean.)

Post#1 » by Xsy » Sat Jun 25, 2011 11:23 pm

Utah's roster is looking more and more different each time I look at it. We've got a couple of new rookies, and we've lost a handful of vets. With two new rookies, and assuming the Jazz keep CJ around next season, Utah's got 11 players.

G: Harris, Hayward, Bell, Burks
F: Jefferson, Millsap, Favors, Evans, Miles (T)
C: Okur, Kanter

How do you want Utah to start this group of guys if there was a game tomorrow? I'm in favor of Favors/Jefferson starting with Millsap/Kanter off the bench. Utah's doesn't have the best group of guards, but man alive, that big man lineup gets me hard.

PG: Harris
SG: Hayward/Burks
SF: Miles/Evans
PF: Favors/Millsap
C: Jefferson/Kanter/Okur

Utah could use another point guard. Here's to hoping we re-sign Watson. Signing him would give Utah a 12 man roster, with room to sign two more players. Their current salary is at $51,914,192, a whopping $22m less than last season. Aside from the fact that it's a small market that doesn't attract a lot of free agents, Utah's been known to spend a lot of money. I think we've found ourselves in an excellent situation. This is the part where I like to ignore the fact that the looming Lockout is coming in to ruin everything.

Feels good to be a fan of a team that doesn't take centuries to rebuild. Makes you wonder how some teams never make the playoffs.

Yeah, that sounds bout right up there. Resign Earl since I see no better option without a trade.

Only trade I'd be okay with is an Okur trade, but even then, I'd be kind of sad that Kanter will miss out on the great Turkish Sensei.

I'm all for any trade that gets the team better players. I think Millsap has the most value.

I'd really love to see an improved Evans come back ready to shoulder some serious minutes at the sf.

Agreed, I think he's the reason we didn't go Leonard at 12.

Evans gaining weight and polishing his jumper will turn the kid into a beast. Can't wait.

Is Favors really expected to start over Millsap?

i don't think so. If Millsap won't be traded. He will start.

Favors will be 6th man.

Paul did so many good things for us. He wont be benched at the start of the season.

Favors is our PF of the future. Now, when he starts, I don't know. I hope that it is at the start of the season, but who knows. I really wish that Millsap would embrace the 6th man role, because he would be an excellent 6th man. It's too bad he would be unhappy in that role considering there are great players on other teams who have embraced it and had nice careers (Lamar Odom, Jason Terry, Ginobili, etc).

yeah, thats the question will he accept that role again?

If Sloan was our coach. I think Paul would be do what ever he wants.

But right now it's Corbin. Who really loves Favors.

I would be Great if Millsap and Ak will be our bench energy guys.

Evans playing small forward successfully would be ideal. That'd clear up a lot of headaches.

I just realized that I didn't even add Bell to my depth chart.

But you know, I'd be okay with that.

Here is my hopeful/dream lineup...

Harris/Watson/Burks
Hayward/Burks/Lighty (HA!)
Granger/AK/Evans
Favors/AK/Evans
Jefferson/Kanter/Okur

Sorry Millsap and CJ....I'll miss you both.

When looking at the lineups I think that Kanter will be the first off the bench for Al or Favors. Which ever one gets in foul trouble first. If its Al then Kanter comes in at C, if its Favors coming out then Al moves to PF and we still have one of the best and biggest PF/C combos inthe league. I can't wait for next yr.
Not to mention the value we could see in a trade of Millsap. This next 2 yrs is going to be a loosing but awesome growning time for our young and exciting team.

I just hope that we miss the playoffs and get 2 lotto pick next yr. This could set us up for a serious run at a title for the next 7-10 yrs with the assets and talent that will be on this team. I just read an artical from Hoops World listing the potential AllStars in next yrs draft. They list 5-7guys that are awesome and then add the Barnes, Perry, Singleton and others that went back this yr and this could be the deepest draft in the last 10 -15 yrs if not ever.

My only problem is that I want this group to be good and win now. How do you win enough to build confidence and growth with still loosing enough to get that high pick?

Harris
Hayward
AK
Favors
Jefferson

I think that team would be surprisingly good after 30 games. Not great, but good.

I want Millsap traded to strengthen the 2/3.
