You think it's a joke to add a defensive starting SF that can shoot the 3? What exactly do you think we're going to get for Casspi, Greene or Garcia? Garcia couldn't be traded for a bag of Fritos, Greene is wildly inconsistent and will more than likely not be extended past his rookie deal and Casspi isn't even close to a starting NBA SF. Salmons is the superior player by a lot and immediately fixes our gaping hole at SF. As for the trade block, everyone not named Tyreke, Demarcus or Jimmer.

 Salmons has never, and will never be known as the "defensive starting SF". Can he play defense? Yes. But I fail to see how he's going to adjust into being the 4th wheel on this team, especially after seeing him play for several years as the go to, or 2nd in command type of player. But I guess we'll see...as long as there's a season :(

Compared to Greene/Casspi he's a defensive legend. I'd rather have Salmons at his contract than trading something of significant value for Iggy and his contract. Salmons isn't a bad option. He'll have to play off the ball and within the offense to get his shots. Reke, Jimmer, Thornton and Cousins all need the ball. Salmons is 31 years old now I would hope he has figured out how to be a pro.

There was a Voison (grain of salt!!) article that stated he was mad to lost his spot in the rotation and stormed off the court after the last game.

Probably BS. Sam seems like a true professional.

...and we all know how credible Voison has proven to be. Maybe Carl Landry heard about it and called her and told her about it.

Sammy won't be back. Hopefully we can upgrade our frontcourt because it's a little thin right now.

Seems like just yesterday we were complaining about how crowded our frontcourt was :sigh:

Petrie indicated that there are some things they've discussed that they can't do yet. What can't they do yet? A sign and trade is the answer. They've indicated that they're targeting impact front court players.

The other guy we may be targeting is Paul Millsap. I think that may need to include a 3rd team like the Knicks or Heat, more likely the Knicks because of the Heat's lack of assets. Utah has too many bigs (Jefferson, Millsap, Kanter, Favors, Okur). The Knicks want Dally, Dally apparently exited the Kings last season on a sour note & the Kings want someone to pair with DCuz.

Josh Smith makes a lot of sense basketball-wise, but I don't think we could afford to take on his personality here. The guy is too much of a knucklehead to pair with Cuz.

Millsap would be nice, although I'd still rather have and hope we keep Sam. I really like having a big frontline.

And they were saying that before the summer was even over last year. That kind of stuff happens when you draft a potential franchise player that plays the same position and draft another not too unlike Dalembert that when from a potential top 10 pick to slipping down to the 2nd round.

Here's how I view the current depth chart (listing each player once)

PG - *T. Evans, J. Fredette, I. Thomas
SG - *M. Thornton, F. Garcia
SF - J. Salmons, O. Casspi, D. Greene, *T. Honeycutt
PF - J. Thompson
C - *D. Cousins, *H. Whiteside

-- Included Thornton since we have already made the qualifying offer and will be able to match any offer for next season
-- Didn't include Dalembert as it's no guarantee that Sacramento resigns him at this point

The starred players are the ones I'd avoid trading

Couple of points
-- With Thompson being our only PF, I wouldn't trade him unless Sacramento was getting at least 1 PF back
-- I would include Honeycutt in a trade if the value was too good to be true, but I've got a good feeling about him so I'd probably resist unless it was a really good deal.
-- Whiteside is one of those guys where I don't expect to get value in a trade for it to make sense for Sacramento to move him
-- You'll notice I didn't include Jimmer Fredette in those I'd avoid trading, that was not an oversite

I think Kings have to clear the logjam at SF

Casspi & 2nd round pick for Paul Millsap? I don't think Dalembert will be back next season, so:

Tyreke/Fredette
Thornton/Garcia
Salmons/Greene/Honeycutt
Millsap/Thompson
Cousins/Whiteside/Jackson

If we couldn't acquire Millsap, I would jump on the chance of getting Chuck Hayes to compliment DMC

I like the idea of bringing in Millsap, but I doubt that deal gets it done.

There's not enough alcohol in the great state of Utah that would make the Jazz do that trade.

Well I'd think Jazz will trade one of their frontcourt players currently consisting of Jefferson, Millsap, Favors, Kanter, Okur & Evans

Lost his spot in the rotation? I don't recall that one either...
Last I checked, Sammy was getting plenty of minutes, which led to his increased production offensively as well as defensively.

I think there is a chance we could land Paul Millsap giving up minimal. The Jazz's payroll last I checked was around $75 million. The Kings can offer the Jazz cap relief much like the Clippers did for the Nuggets with the Marcus Camby trade a few years back. That's the benefit of having cap flexibility. Dumping one of our inexpensive SF's (Casspi and/or Greene) and possibly a conditional draft pick may get us Millsap because of Utah's cap situation.
