Bring AD home?
What would you guys think about having Corbin bring in Adrian Dantley as the top assistant or #2?
He is a good guy, has a history with the team, and coaching experience. He did struggle a bit coaching in the playoffs when they lost.
I think it would be a pretty good idea.

I wouldn't be opposed to bringing him in. He has a good mind for the game, but wasn't ready for the top spot and didn't have the trust of his team. In fairness, it was Carmelo freaking Anthony's Nuggets, so there's not a lot of respect to be doled out in the first place.

Re: Bring AD home?
i dont think that both, Jazz and Dantley would want that, i dont know if author of that topic know in what circumstances Dantleys and Jazz roads splits, but after that i definitely dont think that Utah is his home. And after what player he was i dont think that he would be a good mentor for players, almost all his career only think that he cares about was his stats so how that type of guy can demand from, for example player like melo to by team minded

Forget it! Dantley isn't worth the hassle. He's a problem child. Corbin doesn't need the distraction.

How is he a problem child? From everything I've read he's the opposite. He was extremely loyal to Karl and the Nuggets only for them to hold on to him long enough for most of the major assistant coach roles to be filled up. Denver screwed him.
So again, what information do you have that explain your statement? Or is it just full of crap?

He had troubles with the Jazz as a player but that was a long time ago Layden and LHM. They did reconcile a bit and retired his number.
His firing sounded like the blame was more with Karl.

What would he bring to the table?
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Re: Bring AD home?
If all you want it experience there are guys out there with MUCH better resumes.
I would think that's a pretty damn poor reason to hire him. Probably guys floating around with 30 years of coaching experince, head coaching experience (years, not games), etc...
Unless he brings something more than experience there are much better options out there.

Re: Bring AD home?
I think the only thing we know is he was a big man in the league. That's good. Really, it's up to Ty and that's just as well. We aren't insiders into what goes on and what the responsibilities of the position are, and we aren't in a position to know good candidates who don't have big names.

Whatever bad blood the organization still has with AD ( which I think with Larry Miller's passing, is probably pretty close to none) likely pales in comparison to that of Mark Jackson. I don't know the whole backstory, but from what I understand he was alleged to be tearing down Stockton during his last year or so here, and caused all kinds of hell in the locker room. Does anyone remember that episode with more clarity?

Does anyone remember the Jazz vs. Nuggets playoff series he coached?
I hope that answers your question.

Jackson was trying to get the younger players (Stevenson) to turn against Stockton, Malone, and Sloan. I remember after the iverson practice controversy, mark Jackson said "I don't get whatnthe big deal was, John Stockton didn't run all the plays in practice when i was on the jazz."
Which meant two things:
1. Mark Jackson was jealous that Sloan didn't make John practice the system after 15 years of running it every single night.
2. Mark Jackson is a **** idiot.

Re: Bring AD home?
I wouldn't mind AD. He isn't the greatest game coach ever, but he was basically a 6'4" forward who posted up dudes four or five inches taller than him on a regular basis. He could teach our big men a lot.
That said, I doubt the Jazz ever hire him. No need to revisit the past, and the media would not let it happen without revisiting the past.

A lot of dantleys skills came from being faster than the big guys, you can't teach quick. Get laimbeer or Ewing if you want big guy coaches, preferably laimbeer.

Re: Bring AD home?
Bringing in someone like Ewing or Laimbeer would be a dream.
I'm still hoping we can somehow get Brian Shaw.
Problem is that all three of those guys are going to be wanting a head coaching job soon and will probably get one soon so idk if they would be interested in coming over to be assistants. I guess it wouldn't be that big of deal if they came here for a couple seasons until getting hired but I wonder if their egos' could handle staying an assistant for that long.
