This is my favorite idea out of all the trades I've seen thus far.

-Kenyon Martin's contract is done.
-They need a PF (Bargs).
-Italian connection w/ Gallinari
-Redundant but very good talent at SF. (Gallo, Chandler)

Nene/Mozgov
Bargs/Birdman
Gallo/Harrington
Afflalo/Smith?
Lawson/Miller

FA / Alabi
Davis/Amir
Chandler/Johnson
DeRozan/Barbosa
Bayless/Calderon

Trade ID #5911574

2012 unprotected + Jennings + dooling + gooden

for

Ed + Barbosa + Bayless

I'd only do this if there is some sorta amnesty clause so we can get rid of gooden. Or if we can flip him to a 3rd team or summin. Basically its a trade of Ed for Jennings and we pick up the 2012 pick for taking gooden for expirings

Wouldn't it be easier if it was a straight Marvin for Andrea swap? I cant see ATL agreeing to take on Klezia's contract and giving up a pick. Zaza is an expiring + they need the big man depth.

Bargs' BYC status expires July 1st.

Are you kidding. Jennings is a scrub, this is a terrible trade for TO.

Since D. West is opting out of NO...

TOR out: Bargnani
TOR in: Ariza, Poindexter, Ewing Jr.

NO out: Ariza, Poindexter, Ewing Jr.
NO in: Bargnani

NO replaces the offensive production lost from West's departure, and have Okafor to cover for Bargnani's issues on the glass and help D. Ariza is likely overpaid for what he brings to the team, and
could be replaced with a FA swing such as James Jones or even Weems for less.

We trade Bargnani to a team who could use his scoring, with plenty of shots to go around. In return, we get a SG/SF who can D up and shoot the 3. Ariza is overpaid and limited, but he's not a bad guy to have in your rotation, and he isn't too old that he won't be a viable backup once our younger players have developed.

July 1. I dont see BC doing Marvin for Bargnani without a 2012 1st or something.

Mine as well, would need to trade Klezia though probably for a backup C while we sign one in FA.

Bayless / Calderon
Derozan / Barbosa
Chandler / Johnson
Davis / Amir
C (FA) / C (Klezia) / Alabi

only problem is the new CBA my prohibit S&T agreements.

The league likewise has proposed to eliminate sign-and-trades in the next labor agreement. In a provision conceived by the league to inspire loyalty, teams are presently allowed to pay their own free agents more than anyone else. But that ability to offer a contract one year longer than the competition often has resulted in marquee free agents getting traded to the team they choose in free agency after first signing a larger contract with their original team, as seen with both James and Bosh last summer.

which would eliminate a deal like this.

didnt Ariza not want to play here? I read that we offered him more than Houston and he took Houston because he didnt want to play with Toronto + the situation with Demar i believe last season. Just dont know if id want him around.

It wasn't the city of Toronto that he had a problem. It was the proximity to his daughter (possibly because she was sick can't remember) in LA. He wanted to play for teams that were more West Coast.

I think Minnesota would be interested in Barbosa. They need backcourt scoring and vets. Anyone on their team that we'd be interested in? A deal involving Martell Webster and either Darko or Pekovic would work.

I would not use Barbosa to take on longterm salary for marginal players like Webster/Pek/Darko. I wouldn't mind moving Barbosa for a younger, cheaper guy with upside like a Jonny Flynn though, who opens up capspace for us, while being an expiring guy you can take a flyer on.

Webster/Pek/Darko are still young though. None of them are unmovable contracts. Webster would fill a need with 3 point shooting and Darko was one of the best shot blockers last year.

Edit: I'm not familiar with Minnesota's cap situation but maybe you could do Barbosa for Webster straight up. It'd open around 3 million in capspace for this summer.

I never made this deal but I like it.

Gallo + Birdman for Bargani + small asset

It can't work now because of Bargs BYC but after July 1st (assuming the CBA issue is resolved) it would work if we throw in Alabi or something like that. Thoughts?

Would be great, but the big unknown is whether Bargs is worth a guy like a gallo or if he's worth jacks*it because of his pathetic D.

Would you do that? Bargs for Marvin and a first. IMO that is a decent deal for us. Marvin fills a need, even though I absolutely hate him. The intriguing part is the 2012 1st. ATL is a playoff team, but not a great one. That pick is probably somewhere between 17-23 in a strong draft. I think Bargs can get a lotto pick so I'd probably pass, but it could make sense.

i would. I like Marvin and his fit with the team. Im positive he would put up much higher numbers on our team. Id love it with the Pachulia addition though. Just because if you look at contracts.

Marvin Williams $8,050,000 $8,837,500 $8,050,000
vs
Andrea Bargnani $9,250,000 $10,000,000 $10,750,000 $11,500,000

Bargnani clearly outproduced Marvin and probably has higher value, maybe the Pachulia swap is wishful thinking but i think it fits for both teams. Kleiza gives them a SF as Horford/Bargnani/Smith would take up majority of the PF/C minutes.

however if it was a breaking point i would do

To TOR: Williams + Sy + 2012 1st Round Pick
To ATL: Bargnani

I would like to see something like:

Jose for Ridnour + Webster

Return to Toronto Raptors
