Woohoo! Player from my home-away-from-home Novosibirsk outplays Ovechkin! Three cheers for Владимир Тарасенко (Vladimir Tarasenko)!

Nothing too interesting on the Russian-language wiretap:

May 23rd: AHL defender Zack Miskovich signed a one-year contract. The 26-year-old scored 16 points in 56 games in the 2010-2011 season.

June 1st: 23-year-old forward Matthias Sjogren will sign a contract with the Capitals, reports "Aftonbladet."

"The Capitals have a high opinion of him. They've had their eye on him for a few months and showed serious interest from the very beginning," said Claude Lemieux, former NHL star and now Sjogren's agent.

The contract is for two years at $900k per season, the full portion of which he receives only if he makes the Capitals roster. His AHL salary will be much lower.

And here's the Washington Times article on him:

Caps traded away their one first round pick for Troy Brouwer.
