If we acquire Kevin Martin, I demand the front office to come out and admit they botched the Turner pick.

same thing that would have happened if we got ellis. Turner plays SF. Martin is 6'6 and Turner is 6'7. They feel they would be big enough at SG/SF to play them both.

I think there is a lot of posturing going on. If GSW sees we are talking about a scorer elsewhere..maybe they come back in with a deal not involving biedrins. But maybe truly they are having 2nd thoughts on moving Monta. I do not know.

Sixers are exploring Houston trade with Kevin Martin and either Jordan Hill or Terrence Williams for Iguodala and Speights. Focus definitely on scorer and drafting two bigs has taken away interest in dealing with Clips.

Kevin Martin is more efficient a scorer than Ellis, but is it possible he's an even WORSE defender? I think so.

I want no part of Martin. If they trade for him, this franchise is really testing my breaking point. I'll have to hold back my vengeful feelings with every fiber of my being.

I just want them to get it done so I know what we're working with. IMO those are both legit deals. I personally prefer Ellis over Martin because it more so fills a need of Go To Scorer at the end of games qrts etc. If we did deal with Houston i would def want jordan Hill , not terrance williams. I like terrance but he is not the type of player we need on this team. All that said , I would still like to get a 3rd guy who is purely athletic to play the C and get those 5-10 battie minutes assuming big V gets more than Batties old minutes.

Derek,
Since you've been on the board a lot today, I just wanted to ask your opinion about Gary McGhee of Pittsburgh. Not his offensive skills but his rebounding & defensive skills. He's big, strong, & seems to me to be able to box out, rotate out to disrupt the offense, play the pick & roll, and rebound on both ends of the floor. Is he really that poor a prospect? He apparently did well in Portsmouth but wasn't invited to the Combine.

A 2-3 core of Martin or Ellis at the SG and Turner at the SF scares me defensively, and Jordan Hill scares me more than Biedrens...I know Biedrens low post defense is of concern with the big contract, but I'd prefer the GSW deal if that is what they are going to do. All the talk of Vucevic's lack of foot speed, I think Biedrens actually has some decent mobility for a big, and would even think spot assignments on certain PFs may work as well.

I can understand Derek's view of Singleton over Vucevic, and it makes more sense if they were close on a trade for Iguodala, but I still think Vucevic (in this draft) is a solid choice @ 16. Singleton as a SF next to Jrue/ET would have been nice defensively, but I still hold out some hope that Vucevic can be a productive starter one day.

Well outside of skin color and haircut you will be very happy with this pick.

Kevin Martin? It never ends with these guys. They figured they were looking at an inefficient oft injured no defense tall guy and also a no defense inefficient short guy. Why not get the best of both worlds? an EFFICIENT, mediums sized, no defense, oft injured guy.

This Turner at the 3 idea isn't going to end very well. Defensively, he just isn't strong/athletic enough for that position night in night out. Offensively, Jrue/Martin/Turner is potentially deadly.

Everyone is worried about Turner playing the 3 defensivley... He did D-up Lebron pretty well in the playoffs. he doesnt have to guard the best SF every night. he is 6'7. I mean , running through some of the SF's in the league , players in the west like Casspi , Ron Artest , AK47 not that he plays for Utah anymore , RJ in San Antonio , Dorrell Wright , Caron butler...All im sayin is he doesnt have to guard a Lebron james type player every night. There will be nights when he might be guarding Luc Richard Mbah A'moute..I think he is capable.

How can the same people who like Monta Ellis, not like Kevin Martin?

I'm not even paying attention until after July 1st...that is when things will get serious again.

Nothing is going to get serious when there is a lockout on July 1st.

I would do Kevin Martin over Ellis, and I would feel alot better about a 6-6 Martin, and a 6-7 Turner at sg/sf, than a 6-3, sg and a 6-7 sf.

Also add in the fact that Kevin Martin is a much better offensive fit than Ellis.

How about offensively? Remember that he had a hard time  against them because have the length and the athleticism to compete with most of the SFs.

Not that I don't like Martin, but it's pretty obvious why people like Ellis and wouldn't want Martin.

Ellis is 3 years younger, is slightly cheaper, and is much more explosive. Martin isn't very durable and has been pretty inefficient over the last 3 years. They're both pretty ball dominant, but Ellis is an underrated playmaker, whereas Martin is pretty much a black hole.

I don't find martin ball dominant at all. He is "shot dominant" however.

How is Martin inefficient? And Ellis hasn't exactly been an iron man himself...

I didn't mean it in the sense that he brings the ball up each time and dominates every single possession. But when he does get the ball, he usually is very isolation dominant.
