DeAndre Jordan and the MLE

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Sun Jun 26, 2011 11:19 pm

I like him and his potential. If possible and if interested how much of the MLE would you like to see us offer him? Marcin Gortat received the full MLE from Dallas and Orlando matched it, so I think it may happen with DeAndre Jordan. Two teams I expect to pursue him is Charlotte and Houston (Jordan's hometown).

LAC would be happy to just pay him the MLE. They're probably going to have to gamble more.

I still remember when he dropped on draft night and I was praying that we'd trade for or buy a 2nd rounder to get him as he dropped like a rock. He's restricted and don't believe there is any way the Clippers let him go at that price. We could make the offer but I doubt he'd sign that offer sheet. Given his size and potential he'll want greater compensation or might do the one year QO to gain more leverage.

Jordan for the MLE would be great, but it is not going to happen. Kwame will be a more realistic option for the MLE

maybe Randolph Morris was able to develop last year in China

You sure as hell won't get him for the MLE, someone will overpay for him. I remember him in the draft too, a bunch of people were calling him a lotto pick then he drops to 2nd round. CRAZY. Was it a medical reason?

At the very least I expect Jordan to receive the MLE, but most likely it's going to be more, and there's no way we would give Kwame the MLE. I doubt he receives the full MLE from anyone. Randolph Morris should never wear an Atlanta Hawks jersey again. The only connection he should to the team is if he comes to the arena to practice on his game.

I remember him projected as a late lottery pick. I think his attitude was in question and so was aspects of his game. The draft was full of athletic players and was rather deep at the time. Some of the players are still developing, but it was a solid draft overall.

This link from DraftExpress is especially telling. http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/DeA ... rdan-1072/

Look at the difference in opinions about him from 2007 to 2008. Without re-reading the entire article to you, he went from being thought of as a lottery pick who had Dwight Howard-like power inside on offense to being seen as "a rotation big."

Clippers will be going all out for a 2012 free agent so I wouldn't be surprised if they let Jordan go. The problem is that there is probably a team out there whose probably willing to give him slightly more than the MLE.

That's why it's so hard to scout elite HS big men. The majority of them can grab every rebound and hit every shot without boxing or possessing a single post move.

True...but 10 teams probably would dangle an MLE offer and a couple would go further. Unless someone bids quite high....STUPID high......the Clips would match. Jordan is a 7/7 guy with low basketball IQ,and big holes in his game. He does have impact as a shotblocker but He's been slow adding any skill to his game.

....But you can try. :D
CENSORED... No comment.
