Simmonds is incredible and Schenn is one of the highest rated prospects in hockey right now. How is Kadri/Kulemin a better package?

lol @ Simmonds is incredible. Have you actually watched him play, or basing that on what you read?

Kadri is a top 10 prospect in the NHL, and do you truly think the difference between him and Schenn make up the difference between Kulemin and Simmonds? Kulemin has scored more goals this past season than Simmonds has during his 3 year career in L.A.

Simmonds had a good 09 season, but didn't show much of anything this past season. Again, he's a 3rd line player.

Schenn is more complete, but again, there's a significant difference between Kulemin and Simmonds. There's no way Simmonds with his 14 goals, and a -2 is a 2nd line player. Not next year, not ever.

I wouldn't call Kadri a top 10 prospect and the difference between him and Schenn really does make for the difference between Kulemin and Simmonds in my mind. Your talking like Simmonds is a scub, right now he's a solid 3rd line energy guy with the potential to be a top 6 forward. He had an off year but he's still got a lot of potential.

Why do I sound like the only one that hates the Carter trade for Philly? Maybe I'm just not a big believer in Voracek, but I am surprised the Leafs wouldnt offer their two firsts and a player for him and have a good shot at it. Voracek hasnt shown the improvement I would expect.

I'd take the Kings package over Kadri/Kulemin any day.

I knew they were going to have to deal one of Carter/Richards but I did not see this coming. They got great value for both of them, but trading your best 2 forwards so you can lock up a 31 year old goalie doesn't make much sense. I just don't get why they dealt Richards, if they would of kept him they'd be the best team in the league on paper.

Yeah the Leafs package would have been good if they had a decent pick to attach to it maybe a 15-20 range pick but those 2 alone wouldn't be enough.

I just don't see how the Flyers really could trade away two quality assets for a risk on a 31 year old goalie who is really shaky in the playoff's and offer him a 9 year deal. This is making me nervous as a Wings fan to see if Howard does hit the market what his value would be.

Kulemin is a young, 2 way, defensive, 30 goal scorer under a cheap contract. Can you confidently say that Schenn will equate the same output? Don't get me wrong, I love Schenn and think he'll be a great player (identical to what Richards currently is), but you're really underestimating Kulemin right now. Kulemin isn't a 'name' in the NHL right now, but he's somewhat of a hidden treasure in Toronto, and quite a few Leaf fans rank him as the teams best player.

I understand the value of Brayden Schenn is sky high, and he'll be better than both Kadri and Kulemin and likely a franchise player for Philly. However, the combination of both Kadri and Kulemin is more sheer value than that of Schenn/Simmonds.

I think Howard will get a nice payday, but I don't think the Wings will let him hit the open market. As of now, I'd say maybe 3-4 mil a season may be fair value on Howard.

There's a few rumours suggesting that the Flyers are going to make a serious run at Stamkos. If that's the case, Holmgren went from looking like an idiot, to looking like a genius.
