On June 14, 39-year-old James Edward Russell took off from the Olympic Corrections Center, a minimum security work camp near Forks. He was caught the next day after he knocked on the door of a cabin in the woods, only to find out the man renting the lodge was an off-duty guard at the prison he just fled.

I'm a little late to the party but a prebuild version of Deus Ex Human Revolution leaked like a week ago... Real dick move from person who leaked the game... But on the flipside videos like this one leaked videos from the prebuild have only further cemented the fact that I will definitely buy this game:

It's a first person shooter set in a future cyber-punk dystopia.

The story is heavy on themes related to conspiracy, etc.

The gameplay itself uses a combination of action, stealth, and RPG elements. There's a lot of exploring and talking to NPC's which makes it different from other FPS games.

There are also some other neat features in the game like hacking (to open up doors in the level, etc.), and pick-pocketing defeated foes.

It's basically a non-generic innovative single-player FPS with a gritty storyline that doesn't suck...

Here's a dumbed down playthrough tutorial by one of the developers:

Gears is a pretty good game, I just never bothered to pick up the sequel...

I'm buying Gears because a friend of mine really loves it and would threaten to push me down a flight of stairs if I don't get it.

As for Deus ex... FPS with RPG elements. I'm a huge Fallout fanboy, so I'll give this one a look.

The anti-Nets spin on RealGM never ceases to amaze me...

I dont really think it was unfair...ahtough I do agree in general...as a less popular team anti Nets spin is acceptable...where Nix ass kissing articles are a means to draw readers from a much larger fan base. Accuracy be damned.

Putting that aside...it speaks to why many of us were very happy to show patience and pursue a slow draft rebuild. Not cash tons of chips for a superstar about to make max money when you need to figure out how to add the other pieces.

Building a core when they are all on rok contracts gives you a window of time for their growth...some additonal top tier draft picks as a result of losing and it give you cap space despite having a stockpile of talent. If you were willing under the old CBA to go over the cap and the LTT...it was the best formula for how you can do it. Stockpile, pay them rook wages...use cap space for a big name...second contracts for your youth comes up...lock them in long term...you are allowed to go over cap to keep your own.

As a plan..it works. So many teams locked to one guy making max money fail to go deep into the playoffs because they are too good to get good picks...and too high a payroll to have cap space for free agents. Can sign, draft or trade to significantly upgrade so best to hope for is to tweak the roster. It what Utah did all these years when their big acquisition Boozer wasnt enough.

The Deron gamble works if it leads to other SUPERSTAR signings. Otherwise...it will fail. Not saying we shouldnt have done it. Just saying...what we gave up was a more pratical plan...and thus the writers point abou prefering Utah's roster right now is not unfair.

Lets hope we can get it done and get a couple of other studs in here.

I actually agree that for the most part that article wasn't too biased or over the top, actually solid, but the end, although subtle, was a full fledged back hand slap with powder to the Nets and us fans, even if it had some relevance.

Oh of course! I just dont think its unfair to say prefer the JAzz situation. Hey...many of us prefered slow build. Excited to gamble on Deron...but that was the more practical move. We justify it with the obvious. If you can lock into one elite star why wouldnt you in a stars league?

But we both know the answer. Superstars are great if you have the cap room to build around them and if you can get the other supertar(s) needed in that game plan.

I'll tell you what, you may have missed this one from me a few months back, but I had said I would have easily kept Favors and Irving over Deron and uncertainty coupled with a lockout and other super teams and I say that with Deron being one of my favorite players in forever.

That said, that was only in the, "We landed #1 overall pick!", scenario.

I'm still trying to get someone to acknowledge this one, but does anyone remember when I was pushing the Kidd for rights to D Will trade on draft night for the entire offseason leading up to the draft?

It was probably just my (Please Use More Appropriate Word) love for the unknown on draft night though. :P

Yeah, and keep in mind...there's two different elements here as well...Utah vs. Brooklyn. No offense to Utah, which I've heard is a beautiful place, but most NBA players have this bias for NY over Utah. For them, attracting FAs is not their way of building things. It had always been draft and develop + trades.

Brooklyn however, we're seeing is the opposite. Acquire a star in Deron, and use the lure of Brooklyn, a bilionaire extra-ordinare in Prok, and hip-hop mogul Jay-Z.

The move really made sense for both sides.

It's funny how when I was younger, I used to think 2Pac was the greatest rapper of all time. Now I can't stand it when people call Pac the GOAT
