Kings Ticket Sales soar due to Jimmer

Post#21 » by DelaneyRudd » Thu Jun 30, 2011 4:56 am

I meant your guy in the season ticket sense, but keep in mind I am anti-BYU in a schtick way. I have no real problem with and small WCC type of school. But i certainly dont think a rookie in a weak draft sold one season ticket. A BYU fan would likely just buy a single at this point. The surge in sales is due to the relocation issue and Fin knows it. Hes just trolling us major-major fans.

The reason is the fans are trying to show support for the team to keep them in Sacramento. It has very little to do with jimmer.

There has been a crazy outpouring of support from fans, and specifically local businesses trying to keep the kings in sacto for emotional reasons and financial reasons. That is far and away the most pressing issue in Sacramento right now, the city wants to show that it can support a pro franchise. The ignorance over this situation is borderline terrifying with regards to jimmer. Serious delusions of grandeur.

Remember, the maloofs are really poor business men, they managed to take a contending team in the kings that had record sell out numbers to one of the worst teams perenially in less than a decade, they've also run their casino empire into serious financial trouble. Picking jimmer wasn't some wise financial move that is going to save the team, they may have actually made one of the biggest draft mistakes by not staying at 7 and picking up knight who the coaches apparently loved, but didn't think would be available.

Jimmer will sell some tickets, just like every lottery pick sells tickets, but he isn't the savior or ticket selling wizard a lot of you are making him out to be. Watch the kings this year assuming there is one, if they aren't winning in the first 10 games, I guarantee attendance dwindles just like it did last season.

Don't underestimate the size of the LDS church fan base that will be loyal to BYU no matter where they live... they aren't just Jimmer fans they are BYU/Mormons.

Don't equate mormonism with BYU fandom. Just because someone is mormon doesn't mean they are a BYU fan. Yes, there are large numbers of BYU fans in California but there are also large numbers of BYU students from California (thus the tie). I have several relatives who are from California and mormon but are not BYU fans. They cheer for their alma mater. If anything they cheer AGAINST BYU because people always assume they cheer FOR BYU because of their faith.

Jimmer should start wearing a cape. And tights. With a big 'J' on his chest.

He's that important.

Seriously.

He is.

He's "Super Jimmer!"
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Then you are the one who is being unrealistic.

That doesn't seem like a very nice thing for a mod to say.

Here we go again :) Ok lets just said that maybe picking him didnt help seling those tickets in great way but it definitely didnt hurt case either. Jimmer had one of the best greetings from all draft guys so i think peps out there are happy with him as new Kings player.

Im not sure that Fredette will have great career in NBA but those who think that he is some kind of scrub willl look like real fools if he will be good starting pg in that league.

We all know that Delaney isn't a nice guy.

I am sure that Jimmer has helped sell some tickets but not the main reason.

The upper bowl was gobbled up within nanoseconds of the JJ Hickson trade.
