this was a great promo, i hate how in the WWE right now the only thing that matters is the WWE belt and the World champ belt, They don't care to have a cruiser weight division and the tag team belt really have no importance either, Back in the attitude era it was so competitive and WCW was so great it made the WWE stay on their toes and give great product and push talent pretty fairly around instead of riding 2 or 3 guys for years. i don't even watch wrestling on a regular basis anymore i just tune in every year for the money in the bank match. they are screwing themselves by not pushing talent fairly who are busting their butts and as a result they end up leaving. and then when they have someone like Cena or Randy get hurt all of a sudden they try to insert someone in and push him in til they return then they kick 'em back down to the mid card or irrelevance.

My interest in wrestling died down at the end of the Attitude era, but that was also when I was about 18 years old as well. Then I saw Stone Cold doing that lame "What?" schtick, the Rock was off doing movies, and then this new dude Cena is running around pretending to be a rapper and holding up a spinner title belt. That was enough for me. So I sort of grew out it naturally, but also at the same time as it was getting lame and losing popularity.

Anyways...like I said earlier, I'm probably going to watch Raw next week just to see what the f is going on. So...good work CM Punk and WWE!

Yes :)

What CM Punk said was "truth" and "off the cuff" (shoot)... but it was of the direction from the creative and booking team in order to continue the storyline/feud with John Cena (work).

Basically, the creative team gave CM Punk the green-light to rant/vent whatever was on his mind for 7 minutes... and well... he did just that, and then some... he said some very ballsy stuff.

Now, if the creative team didn't give Punk the permission to do that, and Punk did that promo (in business for himself basically)... then that's a legit "shoot" (which is rare in the wrestling business), and not a "worked shoot"... and you can bet that the WWE would have cut the mic and camera off way earlier, obviously.

But this just goes to show you how amazing Punk is on the mic; he did a great job.

CM Punk = work
Bret Hart's reaction after Montreal Screwjob = shoot

It'd be interesting if they tried to play this off like the Matt Hardy/Lita/Edge triangle. Making a storyline out of the legitimate stuff that Punk said.

I got into wrestling right at the tme Hogan went to WCW and then when Austn dropped the prmo at King of The Ring 1996 saying "Austin 3:16 says I just whippe your a$$". That got me into wresting bigtime. I really enjoyed the NWO/WCW feud. I liked the WCW vs. RAW is WAR timeline. I really enjoyed all of the stories being done at the time.

Never had the opportunity to watch ECW all that much but from what I have seen it was good. Never seen ROH ad have no idea what it is.

My point is I grew up in the primetime of it all like most of you and stopped watching wrestling until just recently just to see what this "New Nexus" thing was all about. I thought it was all garbage until this promo was dropped. Excellent job by Punk on the delivery and thought that WWE should have allowed him to do this long ago. Hope that for all the young wrestling fans they get to witness stuff like we did back in the day.

ROH was where most of the hardcore smarks went off to after that period. It's where the "cruiserweights" (in the WWE sense) made a name for themselves. Guys who are pretty much well known for performing the modern day perception of 5 star matches mostly came from there like Punk. It's a hybrid of TNA's X Division/WWE/WCW's old cruiserweights and actual psychology without resorting to weapons sort of going back to old school straight up WWF where guys like Bret and Shawn didn't need to do a ton of flips to get the crowd going but from time to time also including the stuff other fans liked stiff style wrestling, ECW type of blood matches and even gag matches. In a sense, it was still like any indy event but it had a larger than life feel since they acquired so many talents all in one place and the really great guys got pushed to the main event and it was closer to a true sports where guys kept one upping each other. It's also the one true place where guys like Punk, Styles, London, Joe never got held back and at the same time got matched up with similar guys that can really bring out the best in them.

I never really followed it since it's hard to follow every event and in the past, the well known names were getting cherry picked by TNA and WWE alot and nowadays the only thing I hear about it is...ironically enough...Colt Cabana and only in name but I bet in the age of the internet most young wrestling fans are probably seeing more than any old school fans have seen as there's a ton of avenues to follow the entertainment. There's just not an official major TV/PPV format to really get any mainstream recognition going but new fans are probably only missing the legacy aspects of the past (stuff like why Ultimate Warrior was awesome for his time) but they are also probably bombarded with all these great matches all year long. Stuff that are never shown in WWE or TNA.

^hey Hon-essim, did you watch the ROH iPPV "The Best in the World"? I thought it was stellar!

--------------

Jim Rome aired CM Punk's RAW promo in its entirety today on The Jim Rome Show and offered the WWE Superstar 45 minutes to come on his sports talk radio to finish his speech.

http://www.ewrestlingnews.com/headlines ... __Punk.php
According to backstage WWE sources, CM Punk mentioning Paul Heyman, Brock Lesnar, and Colt Cabana during his promo on RAW may not have been a coincidence. There are rumors that all three could be returning to WWE.

The source notes that Punk recently asked WWE to hire his good friend Colt Cabana. He also requested that Colt be placed on the main roster. This was a sticking point as to whether Punk would re-sign with the company. As far as CM Punk's future is concerned, WWE's creative team has been told that he's finishing up with the company at the Money in the Bank PPV. Of course, that could change depending on what Punk decides to do. Most backstage feel he's leaving come July 17th. WWE has an offer on the table right now for him to stay.

As of last week, Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar had either made a deal or were at the very least in serious negotiations for a business relationship with WWE. As far as Lesnar is concerned, word is that he will not be returning to TV as a character. Heyman's deal would be similar to Lesnar's. No word on what the busines deal is just yet.

More as we get it.

Nah. I really haven't caught up with any wrestling anymore. Even these things like the WWE feuds I only find out because the WWE has been stale.

Man time sure has passed. I just skimmed the spoilers and saw this guy named Davey Richards win the title and went to check off his wikipedia bio and it turns out his Kenta's protege. The last knowledge I have of NOAH was when Kenta was still a young upcoming guy.

Btw this is how they should have let Cena run his angle but it's a bit heelish. (Never really saw this video until now because the CM Punk thing made me search for shoot interviews in youtube.)

I thought Punk was always good on the mic. Just never had the 'look' or the physique of most guys the WWE is pushing.

And LOL at the Rock's tweet. I suppose they're really running with this all the way a la Matt Hardy/Edge/Lita or even Kurt Angle and Jarrett in TNA. Not a bad move at all.

yeah WWE started utilizing and embracing twitter to further story-lines... the banter can get entertaining (outside of WWE programming) sometimes (ex: Punk/Austin twitter feud... Miz/Jericho twitter feud...).

Tonight's Raw was amazing, way better than last week... and it capitalized on the hype... CM Punk completely owned McMahon and Cena on the mic... pure gold... catch it on youtube whenever it gets uploaded (i'll post it tomorrow), trust me bro
