my main complaint that is being overlooked is that, if there is a hard cap, and if the owners truly got their way, babbitt's salary is a reasonable hit and could be the difference between bringing a player like pryzbilla back. :(

I'm honestly more jaded that the blazers passed over bledsoe for the guy with both shooting and backup point guard being of need.

no. his problem is his inability to guard nba 3s or 4s. the guy is a beast in the d-league, but then qyntel woods won mvp of the summer league for an idea of the talent drop...

Johnson signed a 2 year deal. He is under contract for next year, and then will be a RFA requiring a QO. It's just like Mills, but he is 1 year behind in the process.

yes. both johnson last year and mills the year before played in 10 games, guaranteeing the second year of their contract.

I saw him play several times in college when he was at Nevada which plays in the WAC, or also known as the "Western NON-Athletic Conference." Babbit was putting up numbers against poor defensive teams and was the go to player in their offense. He's slow, can't defend, and simply a waste of a roster spot. Stop drinking the Wolfpack Koolaid PA.

I live in reno. I'm a nevada wolfpack fan. nevada has had some good players come out (sessions, mcgee), but babbitt was more of a snyder-type player that again could put up good numbers against lesser competition, but seemed like he would struggle against the upper echelon of players. let's remember that the wolfpack team from two seasons ago supposedly had 2 nba-level players on it, yet they were a middle tier team in a lesser conference. :-?

Hey Qyntel Woods is a legitamete NBA player, that guy should be in the league right now. Unfortunately the NBA blackballs players out of the league that it deems to be troublemakers e.g. Qyntel Woods, Rashad McCants etc...

Woods is one of the best players in Europe right now. I would much rather have Woods than Babbit.

no. babbitt is about at alexander's level:

at 20/7 a game, there is a reasonable chance he would have made the d-league all-star game like alexander (20/9) did had portland let him play there longer.

Babbitt wasn't some guy who came out of nowhere, believe or not he was a 5 star recruit out of HS who had offers from pretty much everyone but went to hometown Nevada and then pretty much dominated his 2 years there.

He was god awful last year, but there is no reason to give up yet. Not picking up his option after 1 year would be insane.

I think Johnson has a contract like that of a first round pick. Mills did not.

I have a link in the above post by myself about the same thing as I'm replying to Wiz and I know Wiz wouldn't be wrong about that.

My son and I took to calling him Luke "Deer in the Headlights" Babbit.

At this point, I don't think picking up Babbitt's option was a bad move. We might as well give him a fair chance to show us something. It's not like he would be making Oden-like money.

The biggest problem I have with him is that I think he's one of those guys for whom the game at this level is just too big. I also think he's one of those guys that put up good athletic testing numbers in the combine, but can't actually play the game as fast or as high as they test (kind of a walking and chewing gum at the same time thing).

More than likely the guy is going to bust like an ammo or Luke Jackson, but if he wants a pro career he might be able to make it in a middle division European league.

Don't hold your breath on this guy getting any PT playing behind Nic and Gerald.
