They couldn't afford his asking price so they pretty much had to deal his rights and i'm suprised they even got a 4th back considering free agency is only 3 days away, the Islanders must really think they have a shot at resigning him.

But if it wasn't for that stupid Ballard trade last year the Canucks might of been able to resign him.

Well, I'm hearing Erhoff told the Isles to take a hike and he's got no interest in signing there. What a wasted pick that was.

Islanders have traded Ehrhoff's rights to Buffalo for a 2012 4th.

 Awesome. He's just being passed around NY for a 4th rounder.

Don't sign! If B's can't re-sign Kaberle, Ehrhoff is not a bad consolation prize to go after.

The most ridiculous game of 'hot potato' ever conceived.

He's the new Dan Hamhuis. I hope the Sabres sign him though.

Bob McKenzie is saying Ehrhoff is close to a deal with the Sabres.

10 years, $40M. The Sabres are going hard after Richards tomorrow for sure.

I don't like the length, but Ehrhoff for 4 mill a year is a steal.

Updated the title.

10 years is a long time but at 4 million a season thats a steal for one of the better offensive defenseman in the NHL.

I like what the Sabres have done so far. They've really beefed up their back end big time and they haven't broken the bank in the process either.
