Nene a long shot?

Post#1 » by Chosen01 » Fri Jul 1, 2011 12:35 am

Nene has become a unrestricted free agent has shown his interest in signing with Miami before this year and again right before trade deadline.

Like Anthony, Nene has an early-termination option he can exercise after the season, and sources say he is upset with all the attention focused on Anthony's situation while his isn't being resolved. Nene, arguably Denver's second-best player, has made a list of three teams he's interested in signing with or being traded to -- and not surprisingly, one of them is Miami, where his fierce interior presence would be the missing piece for the Heat.

Obviously he has a choice of contending for multiple championships or getting his last fat pay check, the pay check seems a lot more likely but who knows?

We should go for it. Post offense with Bron, Bosh, and Wade? Sick. (Insert random 'Spo sucks' comment)

How do we know Miami is on his list? If there is a god maybe we can work out a S&T and this lockout doesn't completely screw us.

I would LOVE Nene on the Heat but I just don't see it happening, Haslem and probably Miller/Joel would have to go to do a S&T for him. Who else can we give up for him?

No sign and trade will include haslem, he already gave up so much for us. The fact is the nuggets will take an arm and a leg if we really want him in a S&T ( see Carmelo and the Knicks). If he wants a ring, he can give up money, maybe a wink, wink office job after even.

Well, he's cheaper that Dalembert by like 2 mil. According to their last season salaries.

Both are expensive IMO.

A REAL MIAMI HEAT fan would never want to trade Udonis Haslem and I think Denver gets a steal if we give them Haslem,Anthony and Mike Miller they get a starting PF a good 2 guard and a defensive center why would we do that for Nene and than have the same problem of no bench again.

I much rather have a good bench and a mediocre or above average center I'm not giving up 3 players for Nene and hell no will I give up Udonis Haslem. I much rather sign Kenyon Martin since he a free agent and pair him with Bosh and see if they can compliment each other.

If Nene would sign for the MLE, I'd take him over Dalembert for sure.

I would be willing to trade haslem b/c of the possibility of signing kenyon martin who I believe is a better version of Haslem when healthy. Now I would not just ship Haslem away for anyone but if we can improve our team then certainly.

Now as far as Nene, I would like to add him but what we really need is toughness on our front line. I don't know if it is even possible for us to accomplish that but Nene is not gonna be a dominate rebounder or shot blocker which is what we need.

I don't see us getting him. Unlikely, but not impossible. Maybe he cares more about winning than money. Maybe vice versa.

If it comes to trading Haslem or Miller, **** forget aboutit . Haslem has given up a lot for the Heat and sending him on his way to Denver would be a dick move. I can't seeing Riles doing that..

Haslem would be a hard pill to swallow if traded. But at the same time, we are always reminded, this is a business for the teams and the players. But no way Denver does a trade for those guys for Nene. On he other hand, how special is this guy really ? With all the talk of the owners wanting some major changes in the way business is done, it sounds like we had better be happy with what we have. This hard cap they are talking about is gonna be a bitch for us, as we are currently constructed

Nene is the better fit among all free agent centers.

Who knows, he might make a pay cut. A lot of players did it in the past. Though its a long shot, its not impossible.

Am not willing to betray Haslem's trust like that. I only started watching the Heat this season, I can admit that, but I know enough about Haslem and the struggles he's been through to make it to the NBA and the amount of money he's given up to remain at home in Miami that I am absolutely not cool with even entertaining the possibility of trading Haslem. If this organization wants to preach family and loyalty, I hope the Heat sticks to their guns when it comes to possibilities like this. He's too valuable as a rebounder and rugged intelligent defender to give up. He's the type of top tier role player that every championship team needs to win it all.
LeBron's NBA Cup MVP is more valuable than either of KD's Finals MVPs. This is the word of the Lord

Even though Kenyon Martin when healthy is better than Udonis Haslem , Udonis Haslem holds a special part in my heart and I would never trade him especially since him and Dwyane Wade been here since 2003 I want his Number 40 to hopefully go up into the rafters he is our warrior and did so much for our team I won't trade him. Also Nene is a long shot I wish Deandre Jordan was a UFA we could have got him but let's see what happens I just want some help in the front court.

It looks like Dallas is not extending Chandler, so that's another UFA center, who would probably fit even better than Nene.

I highly doubt Chandler signs with the Heat, at least Dalembert and Nene have expressed their interest before, plus Chandler is like 3rd 4th best center in the league right now,he's going to get paid regardless.

Chandler would be a perfect fit, but I do not see how we afford him.

it isn't a matter of Chandler being a good price, he hates the Heat anyway (concluded after what he said at the Mavs parade..)

But no way should we trade Haslem. I know Varnado could be a very viable replacement, but Riles like's veterans right? He has a vet he can trust big time.

Haslem just wasn't full effective with a good reason.

I don't mind Miller being traded though... I know he was injured but ... I don't know. Very injury prone. If he's not healthy even when the lockout has ended, send him out. If he's healthy, he'll be a good fit. He can pass, shoot 3's, and grab rebounds.

Return to Miami Heat
