For all we know Blake could turn out a totally different player in Mike Brown's offense. His problem wasn't lack of effort or skill, his issue much like Artest was getting lost on the court in an unfamiliar offense.

I'd actually try very hard to get Dragic off the Rockets. Very good shooter, play maker and a quick PG with some very good upside to him.

I wasn't as annoyed by his lack of aggressiveness on offense, I was more annoyed with his inabilities to hit open shots, that just made far worse since he already was pretty passive when he came to taking wide open shots.

What do you guys think about Daniel Gibson? Could he be had for our TPE and picks? I think that Shannon Brown will opt out which would leave a hole on the bench. I'd try and get JR Smith,Jason Richardson,orJamal Crawford first but they seem unlikely. Gibson would give us someone who knows Brown's system and would provide shooting and a spark off the bench.

Whoever it is, the guy has go to be able to play with both Fisher and Blake and Kobe (interchangeably).

Dragic definitely fits that bill ...

... but Delonte West also fits that bill, and would be cheaper and (most likely) easier to acquire.

That's all.

I'd think Delonte would be a good stop gap solution and he's a good defender and fine combo guard. Dragic on the other hand is a pure point with great potential and upside who's value is at an all time low right now.

If we give him a chance we could be sorted at that position for a good time.

I know I'll get burned for saying this but do you know who else fits that criteria?

Larry Hughes

give him the "minimum-est" of the minimum. if he doesn't take it, too bad for him. or just even bring him out for practice, give him a slot.

-the guy has decent defense (I'm not saying he's a lock down defender at this point but he does defend the best player on the opponent's team and does a GREAT job at it). imagine a rotation of Hughes, Barnes, Artest and Kobe on the other team's best player. it'll surely be a tough night for him scoring wise.

- already knows Mike Browns system (sure he and Brown had a misunderstanding back then in Cleveland. Brown had no other choice, Larry was a nutcase back then, complaining because he was misused, but with what he's shown during his stint in NY and CHA, he can be an asset and can and is willing to play for a former coach-did it for Larry Brown in CHA)

-improved his mid and long range games

-plays PG, SG and SF. he and Kobe in the backcourt can cause match up problems because of their lengths.

a chance, not a roster spot at once. give him a try-out.

Larry Hughes is a bum, do not want. DO NOT WANT!

I would much, much rather give T-Mac a chance, who showed good PG skills in Detroit, than give a guy a chance who didn't even play basketball last year. And who was last seen playing for one of the worst franchises in the league.

I mean seriously, Larry Hughes? Gtfo

I know I just put down the Bobcats, but with Kemba as their big lottery prize, is their any chance we could nab Augustin? Young, solid PG who can shoot, and has a bit of room to improve. I don't know what they'd want, but I'd try to offer something if I was LA

Another idea I have, go after OJ Mayo.

My offer:

Lamar Odom for OJ Mayo/Darell Arthur/Haddadi

Probably get a 3rd team involved that has LA getting back a more serviceable big man, but the concept is the same.

Edit: I just realized how badly I overpaid for Mayo. Definitely need something more coming back, but I think it's a good starting point. The Grizz would have an awesome frontcourt with Odom/Gasol/Randolph and the lakers would get younger/better at a position of dire need, with some upside. Gonna need something more useful than Arthur/Haddadi though.

he's been out of the league almost 2 season now, what makes you think he's even servicable now?

he was actually out just last season. last basketball related news on him was he was looking good in Vegas working out, but that was almost a year ago. latest news was he was giving away free gas in St. Louis.

Watched him play in St Louis for a charity event. Didn't play many mins but you know an NBA baller between normal people. He was always 2 steps over everyone else on the floor.

what do you guys think of this trade... i know yall are probably sick of dwight howard trade situations.. and i know this trade kinda blows up the Lakers and the Magic pretty much gets the Lakers front court but. i see it going down like New York and Denver, LA trades all their assets for Dwight Howard and they gotta take Gilberts bad contract

ORLANDO GETS
Andrew Bynum
Pau Gasol
Lamar Odom
Steve Blake

LOS ANGELES GETS:
Dwight Howard
Brandon Bass
Gilbert Arenas
Jameer Nelson

Andrew Bynum/Daniel Orton
Pau Gasol/Ryan Anderson
Lamar Odom/Hedo Tukoglu/Earl Clark
JJ Reddick/Quentin Richardson
Steve Blake/Chris Duhon

Dwight Howard
Brandon Bass/Derrick Caracter
Ron Artest/Matt Barnes/Devin Ebanks
Kobe Bryant/Gilbert Arenas
Derek Fisher/Jameer Nelson

idk what to say about the lack of front court depth for the Lakers tho.. but look at that backcourt! lol

We're not a contender for a title if that happens. We'd need to keep Gasol.

But that's about the only way a Howard trade is going to happen, unless a third team is involved.

We'd have to keep either Pau or Odom in any Dwight trade to have a chance to contend after that. Preferably Pau.

There is no way Orland will let us get away with that. They will ask for everythin for Howard so say good bye to Gasol, and Bynum.

The above would be do-able if we had a guarantee from a decent PF and C that they would sign for us for half the MLE or so ... like Brand and K-Mart :-)

Once they lose Dwight its kind of implied that they would like to get below luxury tax, if there is something like that in the new CBA.

Taking on Odom, Gasol and Bynum kind of messes that up.
