Kanter playing for national team

Post#1 » by babyjax13 » Wed Jun 29, 2011 11:46 am

Good news!

Jazz center Enes Kanter plans to play for Turkey's national team in the 2011 EuroBasket tournament if there is an NBA lockout.

Kanter said last Wednesday before being drafted by Utah that he would likely participate in the tournament, which is scheduled August 31-September 18 in Lithuania.

He added that he would not play professionally in Turkey during a lockout, but would consider signing with a European team.

Good for him and us. He could use the development and the increase in confidence it will give him heading into his time with us....

I thought that this warranted its own thread, seems to be a separate topic from what you posted.

I do believe a couple of years ago Memo said he wasn't going to play for the National team again. I don't know if it was because of the coaching staff, the wear and tear, or a combination of both, but I'd be surprised if he did.

I guess I lied, Wikipedia has Kanter and Okur listed as "inactive." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkey_nat ... ent_roster

Ooh, now you're expecting people to put a little effort into this stuff huh? I can't just go around making 118 Alec Burks threads, is that it?

Props, Bat.

I really don't appreciate this sort of comment. The premise of both of these threads is completely different, and so is the content. The link that Bat posted is to a thread asking whether or not fans wanted Kanter to sign with an international team during the lockout. Him playing for the Turkish national team was mentioned and discussed some, but usually things like that get more attention when they have their own thread. I wanted to discuss Kanter playing for the Turkish national team, there wasn't a thread for it, I created one...end of story.

I have been a poster on this forum for a long time, and I understand that it can get cluttered when people post topics that are on the same subject, but in this case that isn't what happened. You are perfectly free to read it, or move on - and I would hope that next time you'll just move on.

I didn't realize you were such a sensitive person. I apologize for my sarcastic comments. I should learn to be more sensitive when fans like you are posting. We're all Jazz fans and that's what matters. Big love, sensitive homie.

EuroBasket is in late August and September, right? It may be the last shot at good basketball we have for awhile (unless you like the abomination that is college basketball).

Sounds like both Kanter and AK will be playing, as well as Ante Tomic.

Methinks we should merge this into a EuroBasket thread. Or just start over without all the name-calling and posturing.
