Ah word. It's funny. This might be the one thing that most of the people in this country agree on quite strongly: Politicians - tell us whose money is talking when you open your mouth!
This was one of main reasons that I really liked Ralph Nader in 2000. If nothing else, he would have taken the bull by the horns on making our government a smoother functioning democracy. Then I decided I didn't like Ralph Nader because, well, he's Ralph Nader. I feel similarly about Ron Paul
Well done...you may or may not be surprised to know, that I truthfully feel the same way...He is appealing with his cynicism of the modern day role of government, but his answer to everything is his cynicism of government....he doesn't have a pragmatic bone is body...the truth is he's a dangerous man.Re: The Politics Thread - please direct all related posts he

Hey EXS, I thought I read one of your post on another thread that you were done with politics. But I see your back stronger than ever. You must have an addiction problem. You just cannot stay away from this forum, can you?
While you're here, I'd love to hear your defense of this stupid byatch:

Here's Michele Bachmann's "Lesson on American History." Now pay attention and you just might learn something.

... and thank you Rethuglicans for your fiscal restraint. And they want to tell us how to get the economy going.
Of course, you would agree to cut our defense budget, right? Or is that unpatriotic to you? (Be careful how you answer.)

Wars to Leave $4 Trillion Hole in US Budget: Study
By Mark Gongloff
AP
The wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan will cost between $3.2 trillion and $4 trillion, ultimately, according to a new Brown University study.
The figure, sure to be controversial, includes future medical care and disability for veterans. It does not include future interest expense on war-related debt.
Among the findings of the study:
-Pentagon bills account for half of the budgetary costs incurred and are a fraction of the full economic cost of the wars.
-Because the war has been financed almost entirely by borrowing, $185 billion in interest has already been paid on war spending, and another $1 trillion could accrue in interest alone through 2020.
-Federal obligations to care for past and future veterans of these wars will likely total between $600-$950 billion. This number is not included in most analyses of the costs of war and will not peak until mid-century.
There will be some disagreement about these numbers, which are three to four times what the US has spent so far. According to a Congressional Research Service study in March, the US had spent $1.28 trillion on the wars.
But the spending is clearly far from over. As we watch the partisan wrangling over the budget deficit, it’s worth remembering that one big contributor to the country’s debt problems are these wars that had bipartisan support.

Ah, the hallmark of a true Progressive... referring to women as "stupid byatches".
Also the hallmark of someone who last saw a vagina on the way out of the birth canal.

Exactly. See? I'm not.
Don't ever try to define me. As you can see, I'm not an ideologue.
Besides, all I did was speak the truth. Is she not a "stupid byatch"?

Here's your greedy hypocrytical B-Y-A-T-C-H for ya.
EDIT: Excuse me. I left out the adjective "crazy." It should read: "Here's your greedy hypocritical CRAZY B-Y-A-T-C-H for ya." (Emphasis added.) Now, the sentence flows much better, don't ya think?

NBC News: Bachmann's husband gets big Medicaid payments
By Joe Kimball | Published Wed, Jun 29 2011 9:29 am
NBC investigative reporter Michael Isikoff has a story noting that while Congresswoman Michele Bachmann has "forcefully denounced the Medicaid program for swelling the 'welfare rolls,' the mental health clinic run by her husband has been collecting annual Medicaid payments totaling over $137,000 for the treatment of patients since 2005."
According to the story, Bachmann & Associates, the clinic founded by her husband, Marcus Bachmann, a clinical therapist, is:
"based in Lake Elmo, Minn., [and] describes itself on its website as offering 'quality Christian counseling' for a large number of mental health problems ranging from 'anger management' to addictions and eating disorders."
Said the story:
"[T]he payments from the Minnesota Department of Human Services to her husband's clinic appear to contradict some of Michele Bachmann's public accounts this week when she was first asked about the extent to which her family has benefited from government aid. Contacted this afternoon, Alice Stewart, a spokeswoman for Bachmann, said the congresswoman was doing campaign events and was not immediately available for comment."
Earlier this week, a Los Angeles Times story noted that Bachmann is a partner in a family farm in Wisconsin that received nearly $260,000 in federal farm subsidies.
Says that story:
Bachmann said in December that the subsidies went to her in-laws and she never received "one penny" from the farm, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. However, in financial disclosure forms, she reported receiving between $32,503 and $105,000 in income from the farm, at minimum, between 2006 and 2009.
Publicly, Bachmann has objected strongly to federal farm payments.

People want "change" yet constantly the only politicians that are the favorites in their parties are the same fake politicians that maintain the status quo, which is seen on both sides. There's only one politician that can bring real change to America yet he's viewed as a radical since the very people who want change can't handle or aren't ready for real change. If you want real change how about voting for the only guy in congress with a 100% voting record who has never flip-flopped on an issue, sticks to his principles, has the best foreign policy of all candidates, wants to see money in the hands of taxpayers and not banks, wants to reduce the size of inefficient government, doesn't care much for bickering between parties and can be both socially liberal while being fiscally conservative rather than being completely one side biased based on the party he represents. How about electing one of the only genuine politicians this country has seen in a very long time.
How about electing Ron Paul.

You can't have it both ways. Didn't you just ridicule me for not being "liberal" by virtue of my use of the word "byatch"?

Checkmated me? You spend too much time behind the pc, toots. You're the biggest ideologue on this forum...you're fooling no one...
And yes, you'd figure a good lib would have a healthy enough respect for women not to be perpetrating stereotypes about them. I apologize if I offended your sensibilities. Perhaps you're just a really talented misogynist.

Nice little tap dance. Cute.
In the meantime, I guess we should revert to the Bush administration agenda of favors for corporate buddies which worked so well for America.
