closg -- What that article revealed was Govan's side of the story. It might be true, but it might also contain half truths, outright lies, or leave out key details. That story makes Gilbert look bad, but that was the plan when Govan gave the interview. She and her publicist wanted to make him look bad. Without knowing Gil's side, and without knowing anything except what she's saying, I wouldn't judge Arenas.

Closgg, it's apparent you've never faced the wrath of dating a gorgeous latina (Russians are moving up the ranks in my book) who watches far too many television. Many of the nuttier ones have a playbook that reads like an entire season of their favorite overly dramatic novela. It's a roller coaster that would break lesser men if they bought into half the bulls**t that comes out of their mouths.

Violence? Check.
Courts? Check.
Screaming? Check.
Using kids as pawns? Check.
Extortion? Check.
Deny visitation? Check.

Judging this type of situation without actually having been through it is pretty foolish.

Induveca - Which facts are you disputing exactly? Neither you or Scabs address what I posted, but instead made generalizations about SOME women. I do not deny the perils of falling-victim to the basketball groupie whore (Ask Andray), but their kids shouldn't be the victims here.

Gilbert Arenas abandoned his children:
Govan, who is four months pregnant with their fourth child, "has not heard from Arenas the whole month of December," said publicist Laura Wright in an e-mailed statement. "Govan and the children feel like they have been abandoned".

Arenas recently told reporters he had been staying with Wizards teammate Nick Young for about a month.

He told The Post after his Dec. 20 debut with the Magic that he was so eager to move that he bought a same-day ticket to Florida the minute he'd heard about the trade: "I went to the airport and left. I didn't have a chance to say bye to anybody. I didn't even say bye to the kids."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 03631.html

Govan is a most-likely a groupie HO, but Gilbert made his bed with her and produced 4 children.

And the kids will likely be fine with around 30-50k/month in support. Unfortunately, with that type of woman I've learned from a distance the best thing to do is not engage in their chess game of arguments/court battles. All that happens regardless of what you do is spend 2 years in court, and spend a good chunk of change defending your assets from a woman who wants nothing more than an exorbitant amount of your wealth.

IMO, in a completely dysfunctional situation driven by greed, it's better for the kids to feel stable instead of being around a daily loud verbal battle between adults who have grown to despise one another. After a few years, tempers subside and it's better for everyone involved. That type of woman will hold on to those kids for dear life until they're 18 for a paycheck.

I speak from experience.

It's a given that Govan's side was reported, but Gilbert said he was living with Nick Young for a month, Gilbert said he left town w/o seeing his kids, those facts support Govan's allegations of abandonment.

Bottom-line, avoid basketball groupies or get a vasectomy. These guys never learn.

So what? That means they were fighting like crazy people.......it happens in relationships gone bad. You'd rather hold some type of ideal moral high ground and let the kids hear violence all day and night?

The guy was traded to a city 2 hours away. I used to take day trips to Miami regularly from NYC which is an extra 90 minutes. For a guy who travels constantly, trust me Orlando to DC feels like nothing. It takes less time to travel from ORL to DCA than to sit through 50% of movies.

Nivek is right, you're falling for the publicist stuff hook line and sinker. I'm not even defending Arenas, I'm defending men with wealth in these types of situations. To me, running to a publicist says it all. She's spending serious cash chasing bigger money.

Shoot, I'm not even defending the guys Induveca's defending. I'm just saying that we know next to nothing about what's happening between Gil and the mother of his children. She put out a story to make him look bad. It MIGHT be true, but it's probably slanted to make him look bad. As Indu said, they're fighting. Moving out for a month might be a sign of maturity on Gil's part -- getting out of a horrible situation that was destructive to him, Govan and the kids. Or, it could be abandonment.

Jumping on a plane could be a sign of abandonment, or it could just be a further extension of the ongoing fight.

My point is that WE DON'T KNOW whether Gil actually abandoned his family. All we know is that Govan put a story out. We don't know how truthful or accurate it is. In the midst of a break-up, folks aren't generally disposed to be being fair, balanced and completely truthful when talking about the other person.

 Yes, the Dog Days of the lock-out. Gilbert is gone and not worth anymore time on this topic IMO.

sometimes I wonder what it would be like to be fabulously
wealthy and wish it could be so. Then I think about all
the things I hear about wealthy people and realize that
it's possible for their wealth to create or make worse problems they
otherwise might not even have.

Would I be a better person if I was 10x (or 100x) richer? That could
be a dangerous experiment.

All I have to say is Gilbert is the MVP of planking. On the whole other issue I'm just going to say see Kev's argument. That is my point in the end people are quick to judge the guys when a woman says there a dead beat. There are alot of crappy moms out there that will use there kids as ammo. I have personal knowledge of women that do this. I've had to testify in some court cases decoroborating the story. Gilbert was smart and did not really get to into the war of the press that Her publicist (why in the world she have a publicist) wanted to wage.

Or they could just wrap it up when walking in the front door. Keep track of your boys. Hummers work fine in my book.

WRAP IT UP.

I guess the first thing to think about is that once you become rich you become surrounded by pricks. That would be a big turn off to me. Also all your "friends" probably start asking you for handouts, and force you to either say no or bankrupt yourself. Not a fun choice, I bet.

I just don't think Javale is flat enough here. Although I find this hilarious and..... uh who am I kidding I'm going to get the kids at work to do it.
