even if we're not able to find a replacement for brown by not using the mle, which I highly doubt after being exposed in the last playoffs, that we really need a player that can defend pgs. we still have barnes, ebanks, our two pgs from the previous draft, plus that johnson guy to take his minutes.

plus cmon now....this is the freekin Lakers!!! im 100% sure that there are players out there who are willing to take a pay cut just to play with a championship team.

This means we can look at signing a upgrade at the PG spot(with Blake backing him up), and have Fisher take over Browns minutes at the backup SG spot.

You're exactly right, except the extra guy that is signed might be backing up Blake.

Barring any trades, my "free agent signing vote" easily goes to Delonte West.

Start Blake and Kobe, and have West and Fisher back them up (with West getting "end game" minutes on most nights):

PG - Blake - Delonte West - Morris
SG - Bryant - Fisher - Goudelock
C - Bynum - Gasol - Caracter
PF - Odom - Troy Murphy - Ebanks
SF - World-Peace - Sasha Pavlovic - Barnes

Flip Odom, Barnes, and Ebanks to Phila after the work stoppage for Iguodala and sign Chuck Hayes and Mbenga, and you instantly become DOMINANT:

PG - Iguodala - Blake - Morris
SG - Bryant - West - Fisher - Goudelock
C - Bynum - Gasol - Mbenga
PF - Hayes - Murphy - Caracter
SF - World-Peace - Pavlovic

wow touchy are we? I agree that we can't be too picky and that there will be very few options. And I also agree the coach brown knows his game very well (which is why he never played him)...just saying dude

I think dcash posted awhile back Browns per36 numbers and he was second on the team in FGA per36, which is absolutely the worst thing I can think of.

And Daniel Gibson is not only better than Brown, but he also fits the lakers alot better than Shannon ever did. He'd be awesome on this team.

Rush and Gibson are a lot worse t han him.
Mixed feelings aswell, loved his high intensity play when he was trying, hated his chuckermode, but he was a very nice guy. Wish him the best of luck

Maybe regardless of salary, he wants to go somewhere where he'll receive more playing time.

He only got 20 mpg, and that's because he's playing behind some dude named Kobe Bryant.

There's a lot of teams in need of a backup combo guard. Maybe Atlanta since Crawford is gone?
Dammit...:

I've got Nurkic fever now.

I dont disagree. But the shannon browns of the world was one stop out of the NBA and ended up making a few extra mill.

Yeah.... I don't see how Brown isn't worth 2 million.

Shannon might have the lowest total IQ in the league. I honestly think if you tied one of those sticks with food attached to the end to his head, he'd run trying to catch it, like the cartoons. I hope he never wears a Laker uni again.

Should have kept Sasha. *sigh*

If Sasha performed nobody would have wanted him out after he signed his new contract he just disappeared he was given chances and he didn't take advantage of any of them during all that Shannon passed him in the rotation.

I agree wholeheartedly... We sorely missed Sasha's pesky defense and 3-pt shooting.

Ariza w/ Lakers: Awesome shooter, amazing D, emerging talent.
Ariza post Lakers: well... at least he still plays D

Brown w/ Lakers: Boy can dunk, has potential, but hogs the ball and shots. Still has work to do.

Brown is 24 or 25 years old. He was one of the only real young lakers to get playing time. I think he will be missed. What do people want. A laker team of players all over 30.

Who needs a replacement? Just give all his minutes to ebanks or someone else. Ebanks is young too. He has way more potential than Shannon. He'll play better D, hustle more. Trey Johnson can take some of his minutes, same with Barnes. The only thing we'll be missing is someone who takes contested, off balance jump shots.
