What moves would you make?
Trade:
Bucks - Brandon Rush for Ersan Ilyasova
Bobcats - James Posey, Dahntay Jones, A.J. Price for Corey Maggette
Sign:
Greg Oden
Jeff Foster - Re-sign
Josh McRoberts - Re-sign
Scotty Hopson - Undrafted
Ben Hansbrough - Undrafted
Matt Howard - Undrafted
12 man roster + 3 reserves:
Roy Hibbert, Jeff Foster, Greg Oden
Tyler Hansbrough, Ersan Ilyasova, Josh McRoberts
Danny Granger, Corey Maggette -- Matt Howard
Paul George, Lance Stephenson -- Scotty Hopson
Darren Collison, George Hill -- Ben Hansbrough
I know the Corey Maggette deal doesn't look great but depth is important and he is better than Dahntay Jones/only has 1 more year on his contract than James Posey. He averaged 20.9mpg 12.0ppg 3.6rpg 1.3apg while shooting 45.3% last season. He can back up Granger/George and Hill can back up Collison/George. That pretty much shores up PG, SG and SF with quality players rather than just throwing out Brandon Rush, Dahntay Jones, A.J. Price, James Posey... whoever is sucking the least that night. There is no chemistry in that. And while I Iike Dahntay Jones and A.J. Price, DJ is a SG with no range and A.J. is a PG that can't pass. And I know a lot of people probably don't like the idea of signing Oden(if it's even possible), I just think it's worth a shot. He can sit on the bench for 82 games to heal for all I care in his first season. As long as he gets healthy and can contribute in the future(preferably the playoffs), he could crack skulls. Finish it off by rounding out the last three spots/reserves with undrafted rookies. Maybe find a diamond in the rough.
I'm sure a lot of people won't like the team I built but it's fun building teams. I would be interested to see what the rest of you come up with.

Trades:
None at this point. If I were to trade anybody, it would be Rush/Posey and Price package (would love to somehow get Okafor). Not for Ilyasova though because to me, he's too hot and cold and a pretty similar player to McBob. Brandon is also inconsistent, but I like Rush's wing defense better. Unless there was a great/fair deal for Rush, I'd hang onto him, because his contract expires after next year, as does Dahntay's (possibly, he has a player option), Price's, Posey's and Stephenson's. So if we don't use tons of money this summer, we should keep it for summer 2012 because there will be some very good free agents, plus Roy and George Hill will be due for extensions, Tyler and Darren the year after that and Paul George the year after that. So there will be roster space there for a 2012 FA like Love, Gordon, McGee or whoever.
Re-sign Foster and McRoberts
Target Nene in free agency (if not him, don't overspend for the sake of spending)
Sign Oden only if we don't overpay (three-year contract at most so he can split with Foster and eventually Stanko)
If we're able to trade Rush/Posey and Price, take a look at David Lighty, Jacob Pullen, and/or Matt Howard undrafted.
So, if we walk into the 2011-2012 season with this roster, I'm happy...
C - Roy Hibbert. Greg Oden, Jeff Foster
PF - Nene, Tyler Hansbrough, Josh McRoberts
SF - Danny Granger, Dahntay Jones, James Posey (Matt Howard)
SG - Paul George, Lance Stephenson, Brandon Rush (David Lighty)
PG - Darren Collison, George Hill, A.J. Price (Jacob Pullen)

Lol sign Ben Hansbrough? ...trolling his own thread...
I'd look at Jason Richardson if Orlando lets him walk but only if we didnt have to overpay for him.

Yeh J-Rich got me thinking as well. Could be a real solid pick-up. I wouldn't want more than a 2-3 year deal though. I've really got no idea what he would command on the market; he doesn't seem like he'd take a minimum and head to a contender, but a team would'nt build around him.
I probably go to something like $12m for 2 years, or $15m for 3 years. His form early last year with PHX was off the charts.

Re: What moves would you make?
I'd try to sign Jeff and Josh and no one else. I'd try to trade Rush, AJ, and SJ. I'd try to buy out Stanko's European contract and if I couldn't I'd try to sign a journeyman center.

Re: What moves would you make?
I think the Pacers need to improve their frontcourt, so that's where I'm hoping the most significant move will take place.
1. Add a big-time rebounder/defender type power forward or combo forward/center
2. Re-sign Foster
3. Re-sign McRoberts or get someone else as good or better
4. Get Stanky with it
5. Move Brandon Rush, and Posey too if they can

If the new CBA limits the Mavs resigning Chandler then I go after him and play him next to HIbbert at Pf and backup center.

Re: What moves would you make?
How much are you willing to pay McRoberts this off-season? I think Dallas should be interested in him for the right price of course (If the new CBA allows us to sign anyone
). Doubt Dallas will be the only team interested in him...
As nobody knows the new specifics of the new CBA my question could be rephrased to basically 'How much do you want him back?'...

Re: What moves would you make?
This might be kind of a cop-out answer, but McBob isn't good enough so that you'd be willing to overpay. Before Al Horford re-signed his extension in Atlanta, we knew that to have a shot at signing him, we'd have to overpay and I think most of us were cool with that. We might have to overpay for a guy like Nene or even a guy like Eric Gordon next year. And we'd be fine with it because of what those guys bring. McBob had a nice year and does some nice things, but I'm not willing to overpay for him.

Re: What moves would you make?
Trade:
none
Sign:
Nene
1 cheap, defensive-minded, backup big (Kyrylo Fesenko, Dan Gadzuric, Jared Jeffries, Reggie Evans)
Resign Foster and McRoberts if reasonable. If not, choose another from above. Also guys like Jason Smith from NO might be worth a shot
*Not sure what the status of Stanko is, but he could also replace someone mentioned above
12 man roster + 3 reserves:
Roy Hibbert, Kyrylo Fesenko, Jeff Foster
Nene, Tyler Hansbrough, Josh McRoberts
Danny Granger, Dahntay Jones, James Posey
Paul George, George Hill, Brandon Rush
Darren Collison, AJ Price, Lance Stevenson
Nene should be our primary target. The more I think about it, the less I like Chandler and West for our team. If we can't get Nene to come to Indy, we should find a way to carry our cap space over until next summer, like trading our current cap space and maybe a player like Jones or Rush for a deal(s) that expires next year. When Posey and other expirings come off the books in 2012, we can make a run at someone else.
If we can get Nene, I envision this team with a 3-man rotation for the bigs. If one gets in foul trouble, Fesenko/Gadzuric/Foster/? can play a few minutes. McRoberts could also play backup center just to get him onto the floor. I see George Hill getting bigger-than-usual bench minutes by playing both the 1 and the 2, while Dahntay Jones and AJ Price get the leftover minutes. Eventually, I think Stevenson will make his way onto the floor at the expense of Jones or Price.

Re: What moves would you make?
i love what the pacers did on draft day. even tho leonard would've been a good player too down the road, george hill can help now
i think the only thing they can do now is sign a big
i think Nene would be perfect but im guessing he either resigns with Denver or goes to a contender or some **** like the 'top free agents' do
i think Carl Landry would have more of a future to him than David West, but i'd be fine with either of them lol.
resign Jeff Foster just cuz im a huge fan of the 90s and 2000s pacers
resign Josh McRoberts **** it bring all the Indy guys to the pacers
i'd suggest Greg Oden too but his injured ass would probably ask for a lot more money than he's worth
Roy Hibbert/Jeff Foster
Carl Landry(or David West or in a dream world Nene)/Tyler Hansbrough/Josh McRoberts
Danny Granger/Paul George/Dahntay Jones
George Hill/Brandon Rush/Lance Stephenson
Darren Collison/AJ Price

Re: What moves would you make?
i forgot about James Posey
and another depth chart thats probably better
Roy Hibbert/Jeff Foster
Carl Landry/Tyler Hansbrough/Josh McRoberts
Danny Granger/Dahntay Jones/James Posey
Paul George/George Hill/Brandon Rush
Darren Collison/AJ Price/Lance Stephenson
and since alot of players can play more than one position i see this as a good interchangable lineup
so i guess all thats left now is a backup center which i think Greg Oden would be perfect for but i dont know how the money will add up

How much better would that offseason make us? I think we'd pretty much be just as good as we are now and would be setting us back in the future.
Dahntay Jones does more for this team than Maggette ever would IMO. Whenever Dahntay gets minutes he produces on offense (no range? he shot 36% from 3 this year) and always brings lockdown D.
Our Big rotation would still be below average. You have us bringing in an injury prone center and a stretch 4. We'd still need a starting 4. Hansbrough needs to come off the bench. Bird wants the best bench. Hill and Hansbrough is a great start for that. I'd like to get Oden only if we bring in one of Nene, DeAndre Jordan, Carl Landry, or David West. I like Josh, but I see no reason to resign him as a bench warmer since it's pretty clear Bird is looking for an upgrade at the 4. Is 5 or 10 minutes a game from Josh worth $4 or 5 million a year?
I don't know how Ben Hansbrough will make it to the NBA. Can somebody who watches Notre Dame tell what he's good and bad at? I've watched plenty of Matt Howard. He's not an NBA player. I'd much rather go after Zaza Pachulia if you want a scrappy big. I guess a training camp invite couldn't hurt tho. It would get the Pacers on the news.

Re: What moves would you make?
Yeah, Dahntay brought that sneaky corner trey and solid jump shooting overall. He's actually one of the most consistent shooters on this team, he just needs to be going up against the right defender. I've always liked his attitude for this team, but with less room for him, I don't know what happens to him. I'd like to get back some nice value.
