If the MLE isn't available
HEAT should look at making a trade attempt at one of these 3 guys. A deal like:
Mike Miller + Joel Anthony
for
Andris Biedrins / Samuel Dalembert (via S&T 6-9 Million) / Nene (9 Million)
If Dalembert or Nene wish to come to Miami and there's no MLE, it can still be done, and we can actually offer them more money through a sign and trade. Denver would do this because what's the point of them losing Nene for nothing? They might as well get a couple more pieces and hope to contend next year, Miami do this because it allows them to try and appease Nene and make him only take a pay cut that isn't substantially lower then the money he's being offered by other teams.
1. I believe this would be a good idea because Biedrins is a lot like Dalembert, defense in the paint, good/great rebounder and limited offense.
2. By making a trade for a player HEAT still retain the option to use MLE if it's actually available, this would allow us to kill two birds with one stone this offseason and gain both a starting center and point guard.
3. Golden State have lately been shopping Andris, and could be willing to give him away for cheap, I would consider a healthy Mike Miller a good piece for Golden State as well to give them 3 point shooting (which they love),and a shooting guard replacement if they infact trade Monta Ellis.
HEAT then go and use their MLE on someone like Aaron Brooks if it's there (quick speedy PG, that can create for himself and hit open 3's and hard 3's.) I'm not sure what Aaron Brooks is going to be expecting, last year he didn't exactly play amazing in his contract year. But he would be a good fit in Miami with his ability to create for himself and others. He might only be expecting MLE money, not sure.
Leaving HEAT's rotation like -
Aaron Brooks / Mario Chalmers / Noris Cole
Dwyane Wade / James Jones / Eddie House
Lebron James / Grant Hill / James Jones
Chris Bosh / Udonis Haslem / Leon Powe
Andris Biedrins or Dalembert or Nene / Udonis Haslem / Dexter Pittman
Let me know what you think. I know it likely won't happen, but i'm just showing that it's not out of the realms of possibility to get the center we've been looking for even if there's not a MLE still there for us to use.

Re: If the MLE isn't available
That Nene scenario is actually interesting if Nene and Denver break out of talks and the Heat are his preferred destination. They're probably going to lose J.R. Smith, so they could use Miller off the bench. Joel is like a smaller version of Birdman, and he's getting old. Plus, Kenyon Martin might be playing elsewhere next season. That wouldn't be a bad deal for them vs. losing Nene for nothing.
Very doubtful, but if we swing a sign-and-trade deal like that to get our center and the mid level is still in place, I'd love to see the mid level thrown at Jamal Crawford. Dude is a killer.

Re: If the MLE isn't available
I'm not sold on the idea of trading Joel. I know earlier this season I would have jumped at any deal just to get him off the roster, but not anymore. He is an eraser. Probably the closest thing we have to a defensive anchor other than Bron. He erases so many mistakes with his quick feet and shot-blocking. I think if we fill out with some depth, then Joel becomes immensely valuable as a defensive option at PF or C.
Getting a C, that can play starter minutes, like Nene or Dalembert doesn't mean we need to dispose of Joel. We can have a lineup of Cole/Wade/Bron/Joel/Dalembert that is our "typical" 4-on-5 lineup, but this one would be fierce in the paint. I don't know if I'd want to go in the lane with Dalembert offering strongside defense, and then Joel coming in for the help. That's a lot of contested shots. We already did a killer job contesting shots with gang blocks in the Eastern playoffs. I think keeping Joel could be big for us.
Then again, we're working out Varnado, so that's someone we can replace Joel with that blocks well, is just as undersized, but has more offensive game.
I'm also iffy on letting Miller go unless we get a really reliably SG as backup. If Healthy Miller can stay aggressive offensively AND continue to rebound at a high-rate, I don't know if I'd want to trade him. Miller's rebounding was pivotal in the late rounds. I don't know if I'd want to sacrifice any rebounding going forward. Matter of fact, I love that Norris Cole rebounds well for a PG. That only adds more rebounding depth. PEACE.

Re: If the MLE isn't available
I do not think we have the assets to pull a trade for Nene. Any other team could trump that easily. PLus Nene's new contract would not start at $9 mil, it would be more like $12mil. IMO, we take a shot at any of those center with our MLE (if in place) if not, we would have to make another run with a "Center by committee" I would go after young veteran pieces like Aaron Gray and Kwame Brown for bulk and try to speed up Sexy Dexy's development. Better than the alternative of bringing back Magloire and Dampier.

Golden State would be all over trading Beidrins for Miller/Anthony. Heck, they would trade Beidrins for Anthony straight up.

Why exactly would the Heat want Biedrins now?Maybe the one from 2 years ago but he sucks and is injury prone.

I would trade him for a center that could start, not like Mike got a good contract anyway.

Trying to get an all star like Nene is an overreaction from losing the Finals. We do need a center, but no need to go overboard and trade Miller.

Re: If the MLE isn't available
Miller may have been injured all year, but he was apart of winning against Chicago because of his rebounding. Along with Haslem.
Riley's dream of a healthy Haslem, Miller and Big 3 is golden, but 2/5 weren't 100% all and never were all season. At full strength it's dangerous combination. I wouldn't trade Miller.
I really wish Joel were 4 inches taller or something. OR he should not play Center. Heck, even at PF he couldn't guard Garnett or Dirk, which is understandable but he is being used wrong. Though I'd still put him at the PF and not Center. If Heat do get a better Center or start Pittman (unlikely), Joel shouldn't be at freakin' Center. I'm not sure he would all of a sudden change into a golden rebounder or up his offensive game over the summer to a game changing degree.

Re: If the MLE isn't available
There is no way we would get Nene/Dalembert for Miller and Anthony.
Miller's has negative trade value because of his contract length and Anthony has nowhere near the value of those two (that's why we want them two instead of Joel).
Think of it this way, we have Miller/Anthony on a combined 4 year 38 million dollar contract. If we had a 4 year 38 million dollar contract, could we do better than Miller and Anthony?
Denver and Sacremento ARE better off letting those guys walk away for nothing (if they can't resign their centers) because they are both under the cap and can do way better with 4 years and 38 million dollars in capspace than Anthony and Miller. If we could cut Miller and Anthony for that amount in pure capspace we would. Not to mention both teams would get much better offers from other teams.
Andris Biedrins is at least reasonable since he's been injury prone. But if he's healthy now that's a bad trade for them and if he's not healthy, why would we want him? A healthy Biedrins would be great for us (not as good as the others though).
Still we'd be giving GSW an extra year of 11 mil owed (Biedrins has 3 years at 27 mil) and they really don't get anyone that good. We'd have to add more.
Reportedly they already turned down an offer for Hasheem Thabeet and Jordan Hill. That might not sound like a good offer and its not, but it still beats ours for GSW. They could let Thabeet and Hill play this year and if either of them don't show anything, they can cut one or both of them because both have a team option next year. So worst case scenario for GSW would be both guys bombing and them getting rid of the last two years and 18 million owed to Biedrins. That's much better than taking on an extra year and 11 million of Joel and Miller, especially for a team like them.

Aaron Brooks will either get more than the MLE or matched by Phoenix.

Mike Miller is not a better player than Nene.
The whole point of basketball is getting the better player in a trade.
If Mike Miller was in 2006 Memphis Grizz form, was going off and dropping 13 and 14 points a game and hitting 3s. Then yeah, I wouldn't wanna trade Mike Miller, but he's not. He hasn't been like that for years now.
Nene is in his prime, Mike Miller is not. Mike Miller is 31, with a bum shoulder and a bum thumb and needs a shrink for his shot.
Nene would put this team over the top a line up of Chalmers Dwade LbJ Bosh and Nene would kill the East.
And Mike is not gonna be playing 30 mins a game, more like 20.
Nene is a guaranteed 15 points a game 60 fg and 70 percent ft. I would trade any player besides the Big 3, Haslem and Norris Cole for Nene.

If we lose Miller, we get a **** bench again. I do not want that. Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I still think we can get a good center and still keep Miller.

It was a **** bench with him.
We will probably see Mike Miller and hopefully some FA Center drinks the Kool Aid and come on over like Mike Miller did.

We really need a legit starting center.
The big 3 will not be traded.
Haslem took a big paycut, so it would not be very loyal to trade him either.
The only players that didn't take a paycut but still have some trade value are Anthony and Miller.
If there is no MLE, we really need to package these 2 guys (and maybe even some picks) for a quality center. Chandler, Nene, Dalembert or Biedrins would all be perfect.
Vince Carter for the veteran's minimum salary would be a perfect replacement for Mike Miller as the backup SG.
Chalmers / Cole
Wade / Carter
LeBron / Jones
Bosh / Haslem
Dalembert / Pittman
