Around the NBA

Post#1 » by Nolan » Sun Jun 19, 2011 8:26 pm

The old thread was getting pretty stale so I thought i'd start an offseason edition to talk about the draft, free agency, and so on.

Knicks and T-Wolves are discussing a Flynn for Douglas deal. If the Knicks were smart they'd run away from this one.

I never understood why Flynn was so highly regarded when he was drafted.

I want to see some draft trades already...

I say that Portland have at least 3 draft trades...

- They won't trade Vince Carter's contract, opting instead to buy him out for $4 million in the coming days.

I am kinda surprised that the Suns are going to guy him out instead of trying to trade his expiring later on in the year.

Ya that's pretty shocking. I'm sure they could of gotten something usefull for his expiring or at least used it in a package deal to get someone worth while.

Raptors just hired Dwane Casey as their new head coach. I actually like this hire for the Raptors.

First draft day trade just went down:

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/214305/Bucks_Kings_Bobcats_Have_Three_Way_Trade

The Bucks, Kings and Bobcats have a three-way trade, sources have confirmed.

Milwaukee will acquire Stephen Jackson, Beno Udrih, Shaun Livingston and the 19th overall selection.

Charlotte will acquire the No. 7 overall pick as well as Corey Maggette. They will keep their own pick, the No. 9 overall selection. The Bobcats are now in position to draft Tristan Thompson ahead of the Pistons, who own the No. 8 pick.

Sacramento will acquire the No. 10 overall pick from Milwaukee, as well as John Salmons.

I really like this deal for the Bucks and the Bobcats. The Bucks get a lot better and only drop 9 picks and the Bobcats go into full out rebuild mode and get another high pick. The Kings did alright, but I just don't see where Salmons fits in on that team.

They were ****. But it seemed like they thought they had a shot at the playoffs. Now they're blowing it up. But i'm guessing they're kicking themselves now that Thompson is off the board, because it sounded like they did that deal so they could get him at 7.

I thought the Kings were worse off( which is kinda good, next draft they can get a PF like Jones)... I happen to think that Jimmer is going to suck.

I'm not a big Jimmer fan either. He'll be an NBA player because of his shooting but I don't think he'll be a starter. As far i'm concerned his ceiling is a 6th man combo guard.

I like Jimmer and I would like to see him doing well in the league so I'm kinda rooting for him and Tyreke to get it going in Sacto.

Well I wonder what FA could be had after the lock out... We sure could use another bigman... or at least someone who is 6'9. I am kinda surprised that Earl Clark is already a FA... the Magic didn't pick up his cheap option.

I didn't get that either. Clark is decent tweener and a solid 5th big man.

I've never seen Jimmer Fredette plays... Can someone compare him to JJ Redick? I keep on hearing he's a shooter, plays PG in college, but probably a combo guard in the NBA.. Similar size.. His description just feels like Redick to me. What are their differences?

Realgm say that we asked about Omri Casspi to the Cavs..

Maybe trading Jefferson is an option that the FO is considering a lot these days..

It should be, we really need to get rid of him.

I've always liked Casspi, hopefully the FO stays persistant and manages to pry him away from the Cav's.

I don't know if I've ever hated a Spur more than RJ. He needs to go. I saw somewhere, might've been ESPN, a trade proposing RJ for Travis Outlaw. Not bad.

Return to San Antonio Spurs
