Is anyone else "worried" Gasol goes back to Spain for a year? I mean, he is a free agent after all and a proven player in the ACB. What if some team just threw him a lump some of money?

If there is a lock out for a full season, having him play in Spain would be great. While other players screw around in rec leagues at least he'd be playing and working on his game day in, day out.

I think anything has to be done with the thought you are moving Rudy Gay. Team is better without him on the court, just has an awful contract.

Agreed GGF. This is the biggest myth about our success in the playoffs- that we would not have been better with Gay on the floor. If we had him, I'm almost certain that we go to the Finals.

posting here just to say greivis vazquez is **** great.

he's playing alongside with scrubs for Venezuela and he still manages to keep them in games against much better teams.

He's a leader too...(from hearing the time-outs).

If Memphis decided they were not going to pay Mayo after his current contract, what would they be looking for in return? Many say that Memphis needs a legit backup PG as well as shooters, with that in mind, Cleveland can offer any combination of Sessions/Gibson/Hollins. Both Sessions and Gibson can play the backup PG role, and spot start when needed, but Gibson also adds the shooting. Hollins is an expiring but can also backup Gasol for the time being.

I think the Grizzlies are fine with Greasy as the backup PG to Conley, but there might be a need for another PG on the roster (Selby is a SG to me). Sessions and Gibson are serviceable players but are ultimately not needed, especially taking into account their salaries.

I wouldn't mind Hollins as a backup C though.

I'm holding out hope that Selby can learn how to play as a point guard. I think he has the ball handling skills but obviously it remains unclear if he'll be able to run any kind of offense.
The thing is, if Greivis can run the offense capably, then having him and Mayo/Selby giving us spot minutes in the backcourt could work out pretty well. I'm still pretty high on Greivis even though his upside isn't all that. I think he plays pretty smart and has the balls to play in big moments.
Man I really like the team as it's constructed. Wish we could get an NBA season up and running.

Guy could probably start in the NBA. He is averaging over 20ppg in these Olympic qualifying games for Macedonia. Total keeper that the Grizzlies could use.

Quick question from a Kings fan.

I have read in this thread that re-signing Marc Gasol is a top priority for you guys entering this off season and I can see why. That being said there are certainly other teams that will target Gasol this off-season and one of those may be the Kings. Sacramento currently HAS to spend $18 million this off-season in order to meet the new minimum salary threshold outlined in the new CBA. Also, once the rookies are signed we will have a full roster of 12 players.

Also, recent reports have suggested it is likely Samuel Dalembert will leave for a contender such as the Heat meaning the Kings should pursue a true center like Gasol.

That being said, it seems that the best option for the Kings is to offer someone a big contract. Trying to spend $18 million through numerous small to medium contracts when you already have 12 players is non-sensical.

So my question to to you guys is: How much is your front office REALLY willing to spend to keep Gasol and how will this affect other team's chances of landing him?

Word is that Heisley is set to match any offer for Marc. Keep in mind that the Grizz can pay him more than anyone else, so matching a max offer is actually less than what the Grizz could pay him. That said, I don't expect anyone to offer Marc a max deal.

Will Heisley keep his word? To date, whether for good or bad, he has. Marc's one of his personal favorite players and a huge fan favorite, so I don't see him changing his tune now.

Pacers seem like the team that has the most interest in Gasol and may be willing to give up Hibbert for Gasol. Question is would you guys do it to save money or would you ask for more like Dhantay Jones or a Brandon Rush both of which are available.

It looks like the Grizzlies are semi listening to me. Didn't sign the best American point guard in Euroleague. (Bo McCalebb), but we did get standout Jeremy Pargo.
