Who needs a replacement? Just give all his minutes to ebanks or someone else. Ebanks is young too. He has way more potential than Shannon. He'll play better D, hustle more. Trey Johnson can take some of his minutes, same with Barnes. The only thing we'll be missing is someone who takes contested, off balance jump shots.

This means we can look at signing a upgrade at the PG spot(with Blake backing him up), and have Fisher take over Browns minutes at the backup SG spot.

You're exactly right, except the extra guy that is signed might be backing up Blake.

Barring any trades, my "free agent signing vote" easily goes to Delonte West.

Start Blake and Kobe, and have West and Fisher back them up (with West getting "end game" minutes on most nights):

PG - Blake - Delonte West - Morris
SG - Bryant - Fisher - Goudelock
C - Bynum - Gasol - Caracter
PF - Odom - Troy Murphy - Ebanks
SF - World-Peace - Sasha Pavlovic - Barnes

Flip Odom, Barnes, and Ebanks to Phila after the work stoppage for Iguodala and sign Chuck Hayes and Mbenga, and you instantly become DOMINANT:

PG - Iguodala - Blake - Morris
SG - Bryant - West - Fisher - Goudelock
C - Bynum - Gasol - Mbenga
PF - Hayes - Murphy - Caracter
SF - World-Peace - Pavlovic

I almost agree...LOL

PG - Blake - West- Morris
SG - Bryant - Iggy - Fisher - Goudelock
C - Bynum - Gasol - Mbenga
PF - Gasol - Hayes - Murphy - Caracter
SF - World-Peace - Murphy - Pavlovic

Thank you. I know it's a radical idea, but how about giving the young'ns a shot?

This actually makes the most sense, riding the bench will not help develop are young group they need playing time to get better (an option I admittedly overlooked)
“If this is his team, that means no more coming into camp fat/out of shape, no more blaming others for our team’s failure, my team doesn’t mean only when we win it means carrying the burden of defeat just as gracefully as you carry a championship trophy.”

Agree. Shannon's dunks are the only part of his game anybody can miss.

See ya, Chris. Enjoyed your highlights but dreaded your actual play.
I love this game.

I seriously think Trey Johnson set more screens in the time he played with LA than Brown did his entire career as a Laker.

None of the rookies will play a damn. You do not play second round picks on a title contending team unless they bust out.

They need a big replace for Brown. Its a huge loss. Kobe can't play 40 minutes anymore with his knee.

If we play a 3 man rotation at the 2 and 3 with Kobe - Barnes - Artest we would be fine. I'd also look into playing Blake and Fisher together if Artest is off.

Ebanks/Luke can share the spot minutes.

This is with my hope banking on Blake to actually come good in a new offense he gets to run. I really hope he will turn it around and show his regular consistency.

Tell that one to the Spurs. Also we might not have a choice, and the lockout will make it worse for us. Also Mike Brown is not afaird to play rookies because he did it before.

hoping that Goud guy is a Neal in the making but have to play devils advocate here, Neal played like crap against Mem in the playoffs even though he had a solid regular season.

he was one of my fav's during the start of the season, after all-star break I usually wanted to punch him in the face for his drible/dribble and dribble some more and force up a bad shot as clock whinds down.

He's a good spark plug to have on the bench. Brought some energy to the table.

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
