Re: More Likely To Happen Next Season
I almost went with Biz breaking the block record, but 10 is kind of a crazy number. I don't think he can do it. Kemba won't get 20 assists because nobody else besides him can even really score. Hendo can steal, but 8 it quite a bit. DJ won't touch 43 pts. Tyrus won't touch 25 rebounds. Mags gets to the FT stripe all day long and has made a career out of it so I went with that one.

Re: More Likely To Happen Next Season
Yeah Maggs is the only option I found remotely plausible.
I would be amazed if any of the others come true.

I went with the blocks by Biyombo. I think he will be challenged a good bit by players who dont buy the hype and want to see if he is this good defensively.

Re: More Likely To Happen Next Season
I went with Henderson, but I'd probably re-vote if it allowed me. I was thinking if he was more Wallace-like with his steals he could break it in a more free-flowing game, but his steals numbers aren't really anything special. I was debating between him and Maggette, but if I had to re-vote, I think I may vote for Thomas instead. Given the state of our big men and the way Thomas has his explosive games, I think that might be the most likely one to occur.

I'll go with something between the two.
Kemba, not DJ, to break the franchise points record. Could also be Mags but I don't see DJ dropping 40+ anytime soon.

Funny that the three guys tied with the franchise record of 8 are Wallace, Knight and............Richardson!!
I mean, Wallace and Knight I get, but Richardson?

Damn Jaruff you are right - I thought have flipped them with Kemba topping the points and DJ the assists.
Might do that now (sorry to those who have already voted!!)

I was never happy to see J-Rich go. We should've kept him and traded others at the time.

I went with Biz, because he had 10 blocks in his first exposure to the American game. That being the case I don't see why 11 or more would be beyond him in 48 minutes of an 82 game season. I not only think that it is the most likely of these things. I expect that he will break this record sooner or later.

If the star's align and Biyombo really does live up to the hype, 10 blocks could be conceivable.
15 is absurd. During the past 35 years, only two players have ever recorded 15 blocked shots in a single game: Shaq did it once in his prime and manute bol also achieved it.
Not even Mutombo, arguably one of the top 3 defensive centers to play the game ever had 15 blocks. Nor did Eaton or Shawn Bradley.

Not that I think Biz will reach 15. I don't know that is a stretch, but I expect him to block way more shots than Mark Eaton and Shawn Bradley. Those dudes were stiffs. No where near the athlete Biz is.

Not sure how old you are Quick but Eaton and Bradley were two of the most accomplished shot blockers to ever play the game.
In terms of coordination (Eaton) and inability to physically establish position in the post (Bradley) both men had alot of limitations as players. Shot Blocking however, was not amoung them.
Their prowess in shot blocking is the stuff of legends.
Eaton for example had several seasons were he averaged 4+ blocks per game and one where he averaged 5.6! To put into perspective how impressive that feat is, Andrew Bogut led the league in blocks last year at 2.6 per game. Eaton more than doubled his output.
Shawn Bradley owns multiple double figure block games inclusing a 22pt, 22 rebound, 13 block game while he was with Dallas. Dwight Howard, considered the top shot blocker among active players, has been in the league 7 years now and has never once averaged over 3 blocks per game in a single season. Bradley averaged 3+ blocks EVERY year he played during his first 7 seasons (as did dikembe mutombo).
The very reason people stereotype Bradley, and to a lesser degree Eaton as poster material is because whenever they were successfully dunked on when challenging a shot, it was by far the exception, not the rule. For that reason, those dunks are memorable, especially ones dramatic in nature and they end up on youtube mix tapes. What dont end up on those mix tapes are the other 80% of dunk attempts and shots that Eaton and Bradley rejected.
If Biz can become a 2 - 2.5 block a game buy like Ibaka, I will be elated since, by today's standards, he will have become elite. But to put Biz, or any other active player in the same shot blocking class as Bradley and Eaton is blasphemy.

Re: More Likely To Happen Next Season
well stated d123. eaton was a monster on defense. slow and rigid and awful on offense but the guy controlled the paint on defense, back when the game revolved around post players. in today's game eaton would probably not fair so well with all the jump shooting bigs and lack of true centers.

Yeah, when you are in the top 5 all time bpg holders, you can't be called a stiff.

That's a good point. Eaton would not be able to average those numbers today in a world where 3 second defensive violations exist.
