2012 Draft

Post#1 » by jjdalfonso » Sat Jul 9, 2011 7:38 am

What if there's no 2011-2012 NBA season , what will be the order of the 2012 NBA Draft?

I have no idea, however I would venture a guess that it would be some type of combined record over the last couple of years. That's seems most logical to me.

Lmao - yeah, that sounds logical to me, too. We'd get the # 1 pick.

Below guys is some info I recently read about the possible 2012 draft order situation , the lock out , players playing overseas , amneesty etc.

Going to have to ask you to re-post this article within the RealGM guidelines. That means posting the link to the real article and quoting only 3-4 paragraphs from it in this thread.

If the season is canceled and the sides come to an agreement by next June, the 2012 draft should go on as planned. The draft order will be a little tricky. There will be no season upon which to determine the order, and they can't just repeat the 2011 draft order -- that would "reward" teams twice for the same bad season in 2010-11.

-> so if they can't repeat it what will be the order?

There isn't a definite plan in place. As long as they're not repeating the exact same order, and as long as teams that were outside the lottery last year don't have any kind of real chance, I think I'll be fine with whatever happens.

Sure wouldn't mind Anthony Davis on the Kings. :droop:

As far as I knew I posted the origional article . I am not the one who is the origional poster of it so i had no idea i was breaking any rules as it is an article done by Larry Coon & not me his name was mentioned as being the writer in the article so i thought what i posted was fine . However I guess not .
Anyways sorry for breaking a rule I didnt mean to as far as reposting it I prefer not to waste my time & have to do it again .

Anyone else or yourself wants to post it Larry Coon is the person who wrote the article as far as I know.

thanks

Exactly.

Nah, I think there would still be some type of lottery, but not with all 30 teams, just the bad ones.

With our luck we'll have a 40 game season and make the playoffs as the eight seed, lose our pick to Milwaukee and see one or both of Tyreke or DMC get hurt in the playoffs so we get screwed!

Hypothetical question.
Say this season is a complete wash. We then go straight into the 2012-13 season. Are all players from this year's draft still eligble for RotY along with next year's draft class?

With the way Blake Griffin still got the chance after even playing almost all of preseason, yes, that should be the case.

You are considered a rookie until you play a single regular season game in the NBA. Griffin never played. Oden never played. Rubio never played. That's why they were/are all considered "rookies" at a later date.

You know, after looking at some mocks for this next draft, I'm totally getting why Petrie traded that pick with the protection it has on it. This next draft somewhat nosedives after the first 13 picks or so. Nice players but not too many "must have" talents after that.

one thing for sure, all teams must have 1 pick in each round. the big question is the draft order? best posible was the combined team records in previous years

kings will get high pick in 2012 rookie draft if theres no 2011-2012 season. i wish we dont trade our 2012 draft pick even for bosh ( i rather to keep hickson and that pick). 2012 rookie draft is one of the best draft. i see many potential superstars on that draft.

Dude, you're the same guy that was saying to trade the veterans and start over, which you knew meant sucking for a couple of years.

I know. It is just a little surprising to see exactly how bad we have been over the past few years, relative to everyone else.
