Utah flash for sale, Jazz moving to Idaho

Post#1 » by carrottop12 » Sat Jun 18, 2011 4:18 pm

Apparently the flash are for sale, all employees have been laid off, and there won't be a 2011-12 season. Considering how often the jazz used the flash I think this is a bad thing.

That was abrupt. Guess it's back to Boise.

Sad. I just read this interview again the other day:

Ugh, too bad

With the Vegas league cancelled, anyone think rmr may be a contingency plan if lock out is avoided?

That is really too bad. They were pretty fun. I guess Brandt Andersen talked a mean game but couldn't back it up.

I wonder if there is going to be a lockout if more people would attend D-League games.

Looks like the Jazz are headed to Idaho, just like Rudd predicted.

So surprising, especially when you have an NBA legend like MJ attending your games!

:)

That stunt was embarrassing and ill-conceived but also awesome because of it.

So it's just the Flash going there right? I didn't see anything about the jazz moving there too. They are staying in Utah for a while, correct?

The Flash aren't moving anywhere. They're just out of business - maybe temporarily, maybe permanently.

In the meantime the Jazz are switching their NBDL affiliation to the Idaha Stampede -- an existing NBDL team.

Nope, Brandt Anderson lost money so the Millers decided to ship the Jazz up to a bigger city in Idaho to try to really make some money. /green

It's a better market for the Jazz to lay roots. It'd be nice if the Jazz bought the Stampede and made it an exclusive affiliate. It makes sense since the Jazz have always considered Southern Idaho their territory and LHM has a large business footprint there.

I think the problem is the NBDL just doesn't seem to make any money.

Maybe Anderson just ran it like an idiot though.

I am not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing for the Jazz however. I hated the Jazz reliance on the D-League where I felt they allowed some players to spend too much time there, and I think it hurt their confidence. I worry that the Jazz will send players up to Idaho to die now, with less willingness to bring them back to the team.

It could also dissuade the team from sending guys up there and allow them to stay with the team a little more than if they were still able to send guys just down the road to play for the Flash.

Probably not a big deal really.

The Jazz ever going to have a stadium in Idaho? What city would they move to? No more Utah Jazz?

... :blank: ...

I was kidding. There is nothing going on with the Jazz and idaho other than the occasional training camp, and the D-League team.

Otherwise the best thing Idaho is ever going to see is MWC football.

I was thinking about this too.

I'm a student at SLCC and they usually don't have much going on there during the summer so I don't see why they couldn't throw it together really quickly last minute if they NBA and PU strike a deal soon enough. I wonder if the owners have talked about doing something like that if things get figured out quickly enough, it's not like they couldn't set something like that up tentatively just in case but that's probably just me dreaming. I'm sure it takes a lot of planning, scheduling, etc. and wouldn't be something you could just throw together last minute. I mean, they had to cancel the summer league stuff pretty far in advance for a reason.

I would really love to see the RMR comeback though...going to those games is probably some of the most fun you can have as a Jazz fan; It's just such a unique experience.
