A team doesn't get rid of a guy for that... I agree with Darth, more funny than anything else...

so the jays took 3 of 4 from the Indians.. if someone had told me we'd do that coming into the series, i'd be delighted.. but that 1 loss really stings.

I was just saying to my wife.
And actually, if you look back at this series, Boston and the Phillies, it feels like we were so close to doing some serious damage there and it could've been much better. That's a nice feeling, to have that sensation in your gut that your team is just on the edge of becoming someone better. I don't think they are necessarily grossly underachieving or anything like that but you definately have reason to hope for something better/more when you see the lineup we can put out there now and with a few other nice prospects otw to tbe big show soon.

I only wish we were 46-46 heading into the break. Hmm, why aren't we?

Nice move Farrell taking Jose out. He did have a chance to tie Pujols' pre-break HR record, but I'm sure a 2-inning rest is more imporant than that.

STFU with your sabre-metrics crap or whatever. Sorry, it was bugging me all night, it`s not like we have a stacked team, not too many solid options right now.

Using a lefty against dangerous left-handed hitters isn't "sabre-metrics crap," it's common sense. Figure it out.

I thought Bonds had the record of 39HR by all-star break?
Maybe I'm wrong.

Thought so.
I actually prefer to watch the games on TV without audio and then listen to the fan590.
They kept mentioning (jokingly of course) "If Jose can somehow muster 8 HR''s in the final game.." yadda yadda yadda

Whoops, I'm gonna have to hire a fact checker before I post. I just read somewhere online that Pujols held the record at 32. I thought it seemed low. But wow, BB at 39. That doesn't seem natural.

Anyway, my point still stands, which is why would Farrell give Bau a 2 or 3 inning "rest" the last game before the all-star break, and just before he was due to hit? I suppose the change was also made for defensive reasons, but since when is a 6-run lead safe with the Jays pen?

Maybe non steroid implicated record?

It is possible that Bautista had to catch an earlier flight? He gave him more time to get ready perhaps? I did not see the game so I don't know if he was still on the bench for the last couple of innings.

Good to see Cecil having a solid W this season. Hopefully his early season issues have been smoothed out.

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
