Rich Cho says:

-- General manager Rich Cho said Bismack Biyombo should aspire to be Serge Ibaka, the super-athletic power forward for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

"He's got a long way to go to be the player Serge is,'' Cho said, "but he's got a lot of those physical tools.''

I don't like this. Serge isn't that great. He's good and was a draft steal but Bismack can do better than that...

I think even Rich Cho knows himself that Biyombo can/will eventually overtake Serge Ibaka as a player. He essentially is a better, longer Ibaka. Though I'm guessing he's tempering his comparisons for now because Ibaka is as safe a middle ground comparison as it is right now without raising the bar to his ceiling, which I honestly think is around a Dwight Howard. Biyombo is going to be prone to making lots of mistakes in his rookie year and that will haze people's perception of Biyombo if you compared him to whatever superior player that is like Ibaka.

One thing is for sure Choker. There was no where near this much controversy surrounding Ibaka when he came out of college.

Ibaka also came from the ACB but he wasn't a top 10 pick. Oklahoma City also kept him in Spain for one season so most people (besides OKC fans) forgot about him.

BB is expected to be in Charlotte this year and make an immediate impact as the draft result of trading Stephen Jackson (a top 10 pick as well). There's more pressure on him to perform.

Jackson was an 2nd round pick in his draft class, not a top 10 pick.

I think he meant Biyombo was a top 10 pick.

Yea, I should have worded that better.

I was referring to BB having to deal with being not only a top 10 pick but also the added scrutiny of being the return piece for the team's best player.

What sort of impact?? What do you guys project his first year stats to be?? I'll say 5/7/2 in 26mpg?? I'd be happy with that.

id say something similar to his spain stats sounds about right: 6ppg, 5rpg, 2bpg in about 20mpg and lots and lots of fouls, awkward shots, missed FTs and ugly turnovers.

He won't get 2 blocks in 20 minutes unless he's acting wildly, not right away.

Reading the scouting report on Saer Sene really scared me. And he was drafted by the Sonics.

its not that outrageous is it?

tyrus: 1.6 in 21 minutes
taj gibson: 1.3 in 21 minutes
deandre jordan: 1.8 in 25 minutes
darko: 2.0 in 24 minutes

we expect him to be a better shot blocker than these guys. maybe 2 per game is a tad high as a rookie, but 1.7 or so should be within reach.

^^^
I believe he could get 2.something as a rook in 26mpg.

1.7-2.0 in 20mpg is believable imo considering that defense & rebounding will be his role & basically his only role.

I think that if he's playing wildly enough to get that many blocks right off the bat, then somethings wrong and he won't be on the floor long enough!

Plus those guys are all really good.

For some reason I can't find the records of it online anymore, but the last I recall, what stood out the most about Biyombo's stats are that he did a good job of keeping his fouls low.

Hey guys, Timberwolves fan here.

I really liked Biyombo, I was hoping Khan could get something done to move up and take him with a second high draft pick but it was not to be. I think he will be a good defensive player for you guys for years to come.

I was looking over your roster and I was wondering what you guys thought about a straightup trade of Matt Carrol for Nicola Pekovic? Both have very similar contracts (Same amount of years with Carrol making like $100,000 more a year). You guys might need to throw in a second rounder or some cash as filler but what do you think?
"That's why the last two years weren't guaranteed," Walsh said. "Either way, he knew it could have happened either way."

straight up i'd do it, we need the size. Carrol would suit you guys bombing 3's.
