Carlos Beltran to the Sox or Giants?

Post#1 » by steph2lee » Tue Jul 12, 2011 6:22 pm

I don’t understand why he is speaking openly about potential trade destinations, he said he would accept a deal to the Red Sox, and would be OK with a deal to the Giants. I personally think the Giants need him more considering for a World Series team, they have very, very poor hitting. Thoughts?

I'd say the Giants for sure. Sox don't even need him. He could be so beneficial for San Fran.

The Giants need him the most, but it's the final year in his contract, so I doubt they'd give up the farm for him.

Any trade snags could be due to this (jk):
-Hotel suite on road
-15-person suite at home games
-Club agreed to lease ocular enhancer machine (device that throws numbered & multi-colored tennis balls at 150 mph)

Giants need him more imo.

Plus, I don't want to see him in the AL East.

Giants need him more than anyone. Sox don't need any offense, they need another starting pitcher to replace shell-lackey.

Yeah, I really have no idea how the Giants win so much. We need bats.

Beltran would put SF out of reach from us in the west but it's only a short term fix. They cannot add substancial offense to their lineup with scrubs like Zito, Rowand and Huff making a combined 40+ mil... That's almost more than Arizona's entire payroll. Maybe Beltran can sign on for a cheaper deal if he wants to stay there and shoot for a title past this year. Then Sandoval, Beltran and Posey would be a terrific heart of their lineup.

Giants need offense ASAP .. They can't take the gamble of "look at last year", no they need to bring in offense to back up our incredible pitching staff ..

No I know that, but just watch the games and you'll think differently. If the Giants played the Angels more often, the Giants would probably win two out of three and you'd think they're the most annoying team in the league. They just kinda stick around and somehow pull out a win when all looks lost. I love it, but other fanbases must hate it.

We'll probably make the postseason since this is the NL West, but we don't have the lineup we had last year. We can stick around in the regular season but need to improve to be able to beat the Phillies and the Braves. If the Giants take on the majority of Beltran's contract, around 8 mil, they can get him for two B-level prospects, which I really don't mind too much. The Giants have a sh*t ton of money and are pulling in great amounts of profit, money really isn't an issue here.

Huff isn't a scrub but the rest of those names, yeah they're eating some major money.

As a redsox fan i say the giants need him more, but if it means replacing him with J D Drew then im all for it...Drew is a waste of space, doesnt hustle, cant hit, takes to many ptches, always hurt. waste of 14mill.... :x

Giants are my favorite NL team...I am liking that Franchise series on Showtime this year. They are a classic NL team, pitching, defense and no offense...but that wins in the playoffs.
